PLN Completes 1st Circuit on 2nd Quad-Bundled 500 kV ACCC® Conductor Installation in Indonesia

The first circuit of the Balaraja - Lengkong - Gandul line in West Jakarta was successfully completed and energized late last month.

KMI provided nearly 600 kilometers of ACCC ® conductor for the quad bundled 49 km reconductor project. PLN selected Amsterdam size ACCC Conductor to increase the capacity of the existing 500 kV line consisting of delta style steel lattice structures with spans of ~480 meters. PLN selected contractors P.T. Tinakana and P.T. Indokarya.

Training was delivered by Ari Maghfur Dimyati of PT Dinamika Elektra Mandiri, in January, assisted by Pak Supriadi of KMI. Installation supervision was provided by PLN, New PT Dinamika Elektra Mandiri with ACCC Master installers Angga Zuliyanto, Yaniar Nur Ihsan Pratama, and Ibrahim Fatwa Wijaya, assisted by 3 additional supervisors from KMI. Hardware for the project was provided by Dervaux (Sicame Indonesia) and Mosdorfer. Tesmec equipment was used for the installation. CTC Global's Master Installer, Mark Eglinton stated that "All of the crews working on this project did an outstanding and very professional job."

The Lengkong Incomer was installed under a separate contract to the Balaraja - Lengkong - Gandul line, with PT Multifab being selected by PLN as the principal contractor. The 17 km of ACCC Amsterdam conductor for this section was supplied by Kamesa, and all fittings were supplied by Dervaux (Sicame Indonesia).

ACCC® Conductor Showcased at Freileitung 2019 Event in Darmstadt, Germany

CTC Global's ACCC® conductor, including the new AZR version, were presented at the "Overhead Lines 2019 - Planning, Development, Maintenence and Experience Exchange" event, orgainzed by EW Medien & Kongresse and held this year in Darmstadt, Germany.

A number of organizations from the German and central European power community were represented and the event delivered on its promise to cover a wide range of network-related issues and innovations, including CTC Global's ACCC conductor.

High performance conductors have not been widely adopted on the German network, unlike many neighboring counties in Europe. "We register increasing interest in high performance conductor technology, both in transmission and distribution networks" stated Peter Hughes, CTC Global's Vice President, North Europe. "Our presentation was well received and we had significant dialogue with a number of operators, planners and technology providers at the event."

CTC Global Participates at WIRES Conference in Washington, DC

Bill White participated in a panel discussion entitled, "Technology: How Do We Get The Most Out of The Grid?", as part of the WIRES Group's Policy Forum in Washington, DC last month. Bill led off the discussion and talked about how ACCC® Conductor enables utilities to get the most out of their existing rights of way and capital investments by maximizing capacity and efficiency, while minimizing environmental impacts.

Bill used the example of a recently energized National Grid project in Massachusetts, where ACCC Conductor allowed National Grid to meet new ampacity and clearance requirements using existing 95-year-old lattice towers.

WIRES President Brian Gemmell (VP Transmission Asset Management & Planning, National Grid) chaired the panel, and commented that the ACCC Conductor is a key component of National Grid's ongoing commitment to investing in advanced, high-performance transmission technologies.

Other panelist included Steve Herling (Vice President - Planning, PJM Interconnection), Bruce Rew (Vice President, Operations, Southwest Power Pool), Steve Hauser, (Executive Director, Grid Wise Alliance), and Luke Chaput, (President, Ampjack).

CTC Global's Conductor Comparison Program CCP Software is Now Available Online

CTC Global is pleased to announce that our highly regarded Conductor Comparison Program (CCP) software is now available online, and is accessible at ccp.ctcglobal.com

The new web-based version has all the features found in the Excel version, which has been replaced and will no longer be supported. The new version is designed to make it easier to use, and it also has some new features. Having CCP online will make it easier to keep it up-to-date with new wire files and other data, and to add improvements as they are made. Users will always know they have the current version every time they log in. CCP is also compatible with tablets.

All data required for calculations is entered on one page. Representative ACCC® Conductors are automatically selected based on the "base" conductor selected. Some fields are automatically entered based on earlier entries or saved user preferences. For example, latitude is entered from a web app based on the project location, and currency conversion is provided using real-time web app information. The user can edit most input data, including default and automatically selected data. Registered users can save multiple projects, recall them, modify them and save them as new projects or overwrite the existing projects.

CCP comparison output is displayed on a separate page. Frequently changed input used for sensitivity analysis is conveniently provided on that same page to minimize toggling between pages. Registered users can export reports that break out sections of the output to PDF and Excel files.

Registration to use CCP requires only a valid email address and password. Users may also use CCP as a guest however, saving and export features are only available to registered users.

Thank you for using our CCP. We welcome your feedback. For technical support, please contact ccphelp@ctcglobal.com
