Casey Turner plays the pivotal role of ANNA RANDELL, the young, energetic, idealistic daughter of farm owner Lily in
A Cherry Orchard in Maine.... During the play, Anna learns to follow her heart, even if it means breaking it a little in the process.
Casey is a Portland-based actor. She started in vaudeville, apprenticing at the Oddfellow Theater and studying at the Celebration Barn Theater. After receiving her BA in Theatre from the University of Southern Maine, she stuck around Portland and has kept herself endlessly busy with acting on stage, in films and narrating audiobooks in the few hours she's not absorbed in her role as the Production Coordinator for a local documentary group.

A Cherry Orchard in Maine...
opens FRIDAY!
|
Lily returns to her Knox County Maine farm
from Los Angeles
|
An ancestral farm with a unique cherry orchard in mid-coast Maine is about to be auctioned off for tax debt, and the soon-to-be-displaced family and their friends are at loggerheads as to what to do - Develop the land? Abandon the property? Throw a party and forget about it? Twelve unforgettable characters come together to determine the fate of the cherry orchard, and in the process, find out where they fit - or don't fit - in the changing face of Maine.

The Cherry Orchard
is a beloved Chekhov classic, and in this timely updating of the play, set in Knox County, issues of surprising contemporary relevance are given new life and focus, such as the effects of gentrification, the burgeoning homeless problem, shifting family dynamics, progressive politics, gender identification, and the clash between old and new money, old and new values, and old and new ways of living in a rapidly changing society.
Bonus: It's a comedy!

Upcoming PLAYLAB features
a new devised theater piece
OMNIPHOBIA is a funny and razor-sharp look at fear in modern society, developed with an ensemble of actors playing multiple roles (allegorical characters, classic fairy tale folk, ultra-competitive college students, absurd politicians, even a "neo-druid"). Come be part of the final development of this script as it makes its way to production!
Talkback follows the reading.
PLAYLAB will be held at the Portland Ballet Studio Theater Tuesday April 24 at 7:00 p.m.
See you at the theater!
