Now Accepting Parents as Teachers Home Visiting Grant Applications

The Department of Education & Early Development is accepting grant applications for the Parents as Teachers Home Visiting program  (PAT) Due:  May 4, 2018.

PAT provides  information, support and encouragement that parents need to help their children develop optimally during the crucial early years of life. PAT offers parents research-based information on how children grow and develop; types of activities and toys that will foster learning and nurture development; methods of positive discipline; new techniques for problem solving; realistic expectations of child behavior; and attitudes that will raise children's self-esteem.

Applications are available at the Department of Education & Early Development's forms page. Questions regarding the application process may be directed to  Supanika Ackerman, Education Specialist II  via email  or telephone at (907) 465-8707.

The National P-3 Center has announced the 2018 National P-3 Institute in Beaver Creek, Colorado happening October 22-25, 2018.
A bi-annual event, the National P-3 Institute provides a retreat-like opportunity to work with, and learn from national experts, participate in structured team activity, and work with like-minded leaders from across the country whose focus is to build a strong continuum of learning from pre-school through 3rd grade.
This learning opportunity is designed for teams (6-8 members) that have a track record and a planned future to work together to implement a comprehensive P-3 approach; overall enrollment is limited to 100 participants.

Applications will open mid-April, and be due in June.  Until then, more information can be found here at the National P-3 Institute website.
