34 th Annual Spring Celebration & Carnival

The public is invited to attend RSVP’s Spring Celebration and Carnival held in Mills Park, Carson City, sponsored by Dick Campagni’s Carson City Toyota. This year’s event starts May 9th and runs through Sunday, May 12th. Free Admission! Thursday is Family Night and features $1 rides. Discount carnival tickets available at the RSVP beer booth.
 
Celebrate older adults or spend the Mother’s Day weekend with mom while enjoying music, DJ, carnival rides for the young and the young at heart, a variety of food and craft vendors, wheelhouse, and skate expo.

Older Americans Month 2019

Every May, the Administration for Community Living leads our nation’s observance of Older Americans Month.

The 2019 theme, Connect, Create, Contribute, encourages older adults and their communities to:

·          Connect with friends, family, and services that support participation.
·          Create by engaging in activities that promote learning, health, and personal
enrichment.
·          Contribute time, talent, and life experience to benefit others.

Senior Service Network presents 21 st Annual Senior Celebration

Be a part of Northern Nevada’s largest health and information fair in honor of Older Americans Month. This event is free to the public. Over 50 vendors deliver valuable information to participants. Product and service demonstrations, raffle drawings, and live entertainment throughout the day to attract and engage attendees!

Events Held to Honor Seniors in Reno/ Sparks Communities throughout May

All during May, seniors and others can enjoy over 100 special events and programs in the Reno / Sparks area and other locales, from Incline Village to Gerlach.

Among other things, participants will enjoy nutritious food, music and stage performances, classes, learn how to get involved, or just come out for some good old fashioned fun.

RSVP and United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra (UWNNS) are partnering to increase awareness of valuable resources and connect all individuals to essential health and human services information, learning tools to help grandparents and caregivers, and offer tip sheets on health and financial resources.   
 
Through collaboration and resource-sharing, RSVP and UWNNS support lasting solutions to build healthy communities in Nevada.

RSVP Volunteer Training Session on May 13th

Calling all RSVP volunteers and those interested in volunteering! RSVP will hold its quarterly training session for Volunteers on Monday, May 13 th , 9:00am - noon.  This training will be hosted in the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension Conference Room located at 2621 Northgate Lane, Suite 12, in Carson City, and broadcast to various locations in rural Nevada. Interested parties are welcome and encouraged to join us for this free training.

The training will focus on best practices on art programs for seniors, public relations, Friends Day Out and JAVA Music, volunteer mileage reimbursements, volunteer timesheets, upcoming events, and other news.

Nevada Rural Counties Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) provides trained volunteers that assist seniors and others in need with lifesaving services which include door-to-door transportation, companionship, respite care, caregiver relief, housekeeping, personal emergency response systems, pro bono legal assistance, Farmer's Market Coupons, Veterans resources and more.
 
RSVP helps seniors maintain their dignity, self-respect and independence, and avoid costly long-term institutional care.
