PUBLIC WARNING: COVID-19 CASES INCREASING IN DUPAGE COUNTY


The DuPage County Health Department COVID-19 dashboard, shows the number of lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases in each municipality. There have been a total of 1,061 lab recorded cases of COVID-19 in Elmhurst as of 10/15/20. As cases continue to rise in the state, the Illinois Department of Health is closely monitoring these increases.

Elmhurst is located in Region 8. (Region 8 latest update) If a designated region shows an increase of cases with a subsequent decrease in hospital capacity or an 8% positivity rate for 3 consecutive days, the State will mandate additional restrictions and mitigation measures will be put into place.

Please help to support your local community by acting responsibly to slow the spread of illness. Continue to follow healthcare professional advice to protect yourselves. Practice social distancing and wear a mask in public places. Wash your hands frequently and do not touch your face with unwashed hands. 

Residents are urged to follow safety guidelines and protocols in place, to help minimize the spread of illness. Failure to do so will result in the implementation of additional State restrictions.
Early Voting at City Hall
begins October 19th

What to expect when you arrive at City Hall to vote…

DuPage County residents can visit the Council Chambers in City Hall (209 N. York St.) beginning October 19, 2020 through October 31, 2020 for Early Voting in the November 3, 2020 General Election. Hours are Monday – Friday 8:30 am - 7 pm and Saturdays 9 am - 5 pm. 

City staff has designed a plan with the health and safety of voters, City Hall visitors and employees in mind. Early voters can expect the following organized process when entering City Hall to vote:





  • The EAST SIDE “VOTER ENTRANCE” will be designated as the entrance for voting. Employees and the non-voting public will use the main entrance/exit through the City Hall lobby. 

  • Greeters will be stationed at City Hall to guide foot traffic. Voters will be asked to follow the greeter’s direction while wearing a mask and standing 6 feet apart from other voters. Ample signage will be positioned inside and outside of City Hall to direct voters. Voters should anticipate waiting in lines, both inside and outside of the building.

  • Upon entering City Hall, voters will be directed to either use the elevator or the staircase to make their way to the Council Chambers to vote. Clearly marked floor decals will indicate social distance standing positions. 

  • When voters leave the Council Chambers, they will be directed to use the main/front staircase and exit City Hall through the main east lobby door. 

  • City Hall will frequently be cleaned with a UV disinfectant. Sanitizing stations, stanchions, social distancing floor decals and signage will be placed throughout City Hall. 

  • Voters should plan to park at City Hall or nearby at the Addison Street Parking Deck or on adjacent side streets. 

  • Voters are reminded of the importance of acting kind and courteous by following these directions to keep fellow voters safe during the challenges of this pandemic. 

Do you plan on voting by mail by using the drop off box at City Hall?
Vote by mail ballots may also be dropped off at a drop box located inside of City Hall starting October 19, 2020 through October 31, 2020 during early voting hours, Monday – Friday 8:30 am - 7 pm and Saturdays 9 am – 5 pm. Greeters will ask voters if they planned to vote using the drop box. These voters will be escorted to a different line to vote by mail using the drop box.

2020 Halloween Trick-or-Treating
in Elmhurst

There is a heightened sense of precaution that the community should take during this holiday. We understand that not everyone may feel comfortable trick-or-treating this year. Ultimately, each resident must make the decision on whether or not to partake in Halloween activities. Trick-or-treating hours on Saturday, October 31st are from 3:30-7:30 pm, but residents are asked to protect themselves and respect their neighbors by understanding and abiding by the following guidelines....
Illinois Tollway News:
OVERNIGHT RAMP AND LANE CLOSURES, TRAFFIC SHIFTS SCHEDULED IN OCTOBER 
ON TRI-STATE TOLLWAY (I-294) AT I-290 FOR COMED WORK 

A traffic shift is scheduled this weekend for the overnight ramp and lane closures at the I-290 Interchange on the Tri-State Tollway (I-294) to provide a work zone to safely accommodate work related to the relocation of ComEd transmission lines for Illinois Tollway construction. There are several ways to provide public comment during these meetings including online and in person. The City has added a call-in option for public comment.
