David J. Roslien Lecture: Professor James Hansen
Shape Your Future: Energy, Climate, and Human Rights

In 1988 Dr. James Hansen, then director of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies, testified before Congress and brought the issue of climate change to the public eye. Thirty years later, he continues to raise the public alarm about climate change. A question and answer session and book signing will follow the lecture.

Xiuhtezcatl Martinez, hip-hop artist and Earth Guardians youth director, will perform and speak on Bentdahl Commons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 2. Beautiful Mess will open at 6:30. Martinez is the youngest person ever to speak before the United Nations. Now, at 18, he travels the world energizing young people to address climate change. Come listen to his music and hear his message. Climate Justice Week is sponsored by the CSC and CEPE.

KWLC is hosting its second ever Talk Show Night in Marty’s on Saturday, May 4 from 5:00 to 7. The event will feature live talk shows including Two Guys One Studio, Norse News, and Sports Talk. Musical performances by Bromatic and Free Time. The event will also feature a Family Feud style game show, and a live interview with President Carlson.

Steinway artist , frequent concert soloist, avid chamber music performer and dedicated educator, Lei Weng will perform at Luther College at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 7, in the Noble Recital Hall of the Jensen Noble Hall of Music.

Luther College Ringers Handbell Ensemble will present its annual spring concert at
6:30 p.m. Friday, May 3 in the Noble Recital Hall, Jenson Noble Hall of Music.

Luther College Needs YOU as Norse Force!

Norse Force team members can expect to spend move-in day greeting new students and their families, carrying students' belongings to their rooms, comforting teary-eyed moms and dads, and being a welcoming and friendly presence. Approximately 80-100 student volunteers will be selected to join the Fall 2019 Norse Force.

Sunflower Child Development Center is hiring teacher aides for 2019-2020 year. Work in rewarding, active environment, which sets the stage for young children to learn and grow. RERUNS

The Luther College Jazz Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, in the Main Hall of the Center for Faith and Life. Directed by Jon Ailabouni, the performance will include the "Boogie Stop Shuffle" by Charles Mingus, "Katie" and "Basie Straight Ahead" by Sammy Nestico, "Linebacker" and "Riverscape" by Fred Sturm, "Yardbird Suite" by Charlie Parker and "Black and Tan Fantasy" by Duke Ellington. Along with Jazz Band, two jazz combos, Free Time and Gimme Moore , will perform at the concert.

T-Pain  is coming Friday, May 3! SAC Concerts is excited to bring T-Pain to the Luther College Regents Center. With 60 hit songs under his belt and two Grammy trophies on his mantle, T-Pain has cemented himself as one of the most influential artists of all time. Doors are at 7:30, show starts at 8 pm. Get your tickets online or at the Ticket Office. Free with CAF, $45 for the public. Tickets must match ID shown at door.

The American Marketing Association (AMA) Luther Chapter would like to invite you to their end-of-the-year showcase on May 2 in Olin 101 from 7-8 p.m. Come hear what AMA is all about, the AMA Nationals Conference we attended this year in New Orleans, and how you could support AMA or become a member. Climate Justice Week Book Signing Events – Wednesday, May 1 after the  James Hansen's  Roslien Lecture in the CFL stick around the meet the author and purchase a copy of his book,  Storms of My Grandchildren . Thursday, May 2 after  Xiuhtezcatl Martinez's outdoor performance in Bentdahl Common stick around for an outdoor book signing of,  We Rise . Books for both of these events can be purchased in the Book Shop prior to the event and at the event.

The students of Jonah Elrod , visiting assistant professor of music, will debut their original compositions at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, in the Noble Recital Hall of the Jensen Noble Hall of Music. The performance will also be live-streamed to those outside of a 30-mile radius of Decorah, and available as a delayed stream to all 48 hours after the concert at  https://portal.stretchinternet.com/luthermusic/ .

Multimedia Strategic Fellow:  One year, full-time position to participate on the User Services and Multimedia teams within Information Technology Services to assist the Multimedia Lead in promoting and supporting the effective uses of video, audio, textual, graphical, and other electronic media in support of teaching, learning, research, and administrative purposes. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience is required. Preference for a recent Luther graduate who was a Multimedia Technician student worker or other student worker within ITS or Luther.

Earn your work study hours in a fun and meaningful way with the Recycling and Compost Crew! Duties include emptying compost containers from academic buildings and residence halls, taking recycling to designated areas, and weighing compost to track student and staff engagement. We are hiring one person with a valid US driver's license for Tuesday mornings that total up to 3 hours. Make sure to reach out as soon as possible! Contact [email protected] for more information.
