MMES Sprung into Spring with Field Days!

Before spring break, MMES held field days  for 2nd/3rd on  March 5 and K/1st on  March 7!  The field days were organized by PE teacher Mr. Rich Olson and included fun activities and sports such as basketball, beach ball volleyball, bowling, hula hoops, jump roping, parachute, relay races, and soccer.  On K/1st day, our kindergarten friends from H'man'shawa Early Learning Center at Fort McDowell joined us!

Thank you to everyone who helped including special area teachers, grade level teachers and other staff, and parent/community volunteers.  It was a great way to end the 3rd quarter! Below are some highlights:

"Bobby's Thoughts" is Back!

I love recess! I love going outside and running around, playing on the slide and talking to all of my friends. I just love recess!
Sometimes, though, my best friend isn't at school or they decide they want to play with someone else that day... then I'm sad because I don't have anyone to play with. Sigh.

When I have a day like that I just walk around and sniff the grass and lay down with a sad face. Everyone else is still running around, playing on the slide, and talking to their friends. I wish I knew what to do on those kinds of days.

Mrs. Cooper, our technology teacher found something really cool for our school... and it helps me on those days when my best friend is not around. They are called "Buddy Benches"! I think they must be made just for me too. I've learned that if you are at recess and don't have anyone to play with, you can go and sit on the Buddy Bench.   All of us at school have been taught that we need to watch those benches and if we see someone sitting on them we should go and talk to them. We go and talk to them and ask them if they would like to come and play with them. It's fun to be able to sit there and then someone comes over and asks ME to play! There is one rule for the Buddy Bench... if you sit there and someone comes over and asks you to play, you can't say no. That's hard to do... but since I've tried the Buddy Bench, I've made new friends!

I'm glad we have the new benches. Maybe my best friend and I can watch the bench together and meet new friends!
