In the gospel reading this Sunday, John the Baptist again points to Jesus announcing that He is the one to follow. At least one of John's followers, Andrew the fisherman, took it to heart, and by four o'clock in the afternoon, there was no question left in Andrew's mind that "This is the Messiah, the Anointed of God." He runs right to his beloved brother Simon, and brings him to Jesus.  The called becomes the caller. He becomes the light, leading his brother to the Light of the World.  And Jesus immediately calls Simon by his new name -- Peter.   This is the meaning of being called: we are changed and afterward we cannot, we must not, keep the knowledge to ourselves. We must share it with others for the salvation of the world.

Basically what all this means is that we need volunteers for coffee hour, altar flowers, card ministry and anyone else willing to put their name out for the vestry elections? Any more volunteers for ???? Please prayerfully consider...

St. Andrew's parish is looking for one or more individuals willing to serve as parish nurses.  We recently discovered that the emergency AED (Automated Electronic Defibrillator) was not setup correctly and did not have pediatric pads to use with it.  Mo Pat has now setup the device and Carol recently ordered the needed supplies; but this points out how important a parish nurse ministry can be.  If you have or had a nursing license, and if you would like to serve in the parish nurse ministry group, let Mother Pat know of your interest.  What we hope this individual or team of nurses can do includes:  checking AED weekly (takes one minute to verify and document that AED is functional); training interested members of the congregation in how to use the AED because a nurse or health professional may not be present when it is needed (there is a CD); writing short articles for the antiphon on health issues such as when to get flu vaccine, reminders about west Nile virus or Zika when those seasons come around; and perhaps offering a monthly blood pressure screening Sunday for those who would like to know what their blood pressure is.  The role can be expanded as the ministry grows if those serving desire to attend pastoral care team meetings in order to help the Lay Eucharistic Visitors with questions about those they see in Care Centers or the Hospital.  We really need someone who can help with this important ministry and if that individual is you, volunteer as part of the team.

Pledge Envelopes for 2020

Also, Carol Mohor (our treasurer) has decided not to order new pledge envelopes this year. She has plenty of unused ones from the past year for those that want them (especially anyone who gives cash and wants to keep track). She will even go through and correct the dates if you need her to but as long as its in an envelope with your name it will be recorded. Those who write checks can simply fold their check or are more than welcome to use the envelopes you have left from this past year. There's no sense in wasting the paper (trees) or money to purchase more since the minimum order is more than twice what we need. Any questions or comments please let Carol Mohor know.
