The 2019 PSAT/NMSQT is also the qualifying test that students must take to enter National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) competitions for college scholarships that will be awarded in 2021. • Seek information from colleges
  • Enter scholarship competitions
  • Initiate the college-planning process

The test will be administered at Wilmot Union High School on Wednesday, October 16, 2019. The test is approximately three hours in length and will be taken during the school day. There is a $16.00 fee to take the test, checks should be made payable to Wilmot Union High School.

Alongside our state's mathematical standards are the student mathematical practice standards. One of these student practice standards includes  Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning.    Mathematically proficient students notice if calculations are repeated, and look both for general methods and for shortcuts. As they work to solve problems, mathematically proficient students maintain oversight of the process, while attending to the details. They continually evaluate the reasonableness of their intermediate results ( http://www.corestandards.org/Math/Practice/ ).

This month, ask your child if they have developed a shortcut for doing some problems and ask them to explain it to you. Here is a fun website for looking for & expressing regularity in repeated reasoning:  http://www.visualpatterns.org
On Friday, April 26, Wilmot Union High School hosted our inaugural middle school math meet! Randall, Trevor-Wilmot, Lakewood, Wheatland & Riverview students participated. We had over 100, 5th-8th graders, compete!
