Community visionaries stepped forward in 1967 to bring the former Times Square New York Paramount Theatre Wurlitzer to Wichita. Farny Wurlitzer, former president and retired board chairman of the Wurlitzer Company, claimed the Wurlitzer "was our masterpiece."  Here in Wichita, the organ's reputation has continued as "the greatest of them all - the envy of every other city."  Detroit, Hollywood, New York, and St. Louis also have Wurlitzers. However, those instruments are measured by the standard set by the Wichita Wurlitzer, known across the nation and around the world.
Atlanta Fox Theatre Organ
The 4,700 seat Atlanta Fox theatre opened Christmas Day 1929.  The theatre takes pride in its large Moller theatre organ
that is used approximately 150 times annually.  All events are required to use the organ for 30 minutes prior to the performance.  The requirement is in Rules and Regulations on Page 5, Item 13 of the Atlanta Fox Technical Package (click here for a copy).  In the 45 years since the Wichita premiere, the Wichita Wurlitzer has only been used about 150 times total in public performance and recordings.
