Here's what is happening in Church School this Sunday, May 5, and in the weeks ahead
:
Preschool I & II
One of Jesus's disciples asked him, "What is the most important rule of all?" What was Jesus's answer? What does he say is the second rule? Preschool students discuss how we love God and love our neighbors. Students make heart necklaces.
PreKindergarten
Jesus sent his disciples out to be ministers and spread His good news around the world. PreKindergarten students discuss how they can be followers of Jesus. Students make heart necklaces as a reminder to love your neighbor as yourself.
Kindergarten
How do we share the love of God? Kindergarten students make pins to hand out to all Church School students during Chapel. The more pins they make, the more they can share God's love.
First Grade
Have you ever struggled to succeed at something? First grade students learn about Peter who fished all day and night but didn't catch any fish. What happens when Peter listens to Jesus? Students make fishing pictures for their Bible Story Binders. Students may bring their Bible Story Binders home to share with their families.
Second Grade
One of the last stories in the Old Testament is about Jonah. God asked Jonah to go to Ninevah to warn the people there that God knew they were behaving badly. Jonah doesn't want to follow God's directions and he tries to escape. What happens to him?
Third Grade
It's
Moving Up Day for the third grade. Learn what Church School will be like next year by participating in the fourth and fifth grade outreach project. Following chapel, third grade students and teachers should go to the fourth/fifth grade classroom.
Fourth and Fifth Grades
Fourth and fifth grades students have their last outreach project of the year, putting together Mother's Day gift bags for the moms at Almost Home, a transitional home for young mothers, and making sandwiches for Peter and Paul Community Services.
It's
Moving Up Day for fifth grade students. Students from CSMSG's Youth Ministry will "kidnap" fifth grade students for a special treat and show them what to expect as middle school students next year. Following chapel, fifth grade students should report to their usual classroom to participate in the outreach project until they are "kidnapped."
Church School Volunteer Recognition
Sunday, May 19, is the final 9:15 am service of the school year. All Church School students will start in the Chapel at 9:15 am and will join their parents in the church for communion. All Church School volunteers, including teachers, steering committee members, and high school assistants, will be recognized at the end of the service. Please plan to attend and stand when your name is called.
