Principal's Message
April 13,  2018
Dear Families and Friends of OLQP:
Spring is such a beautiful time of renewal and growth. We see it everywhere. The garden centers are full of bedding plants - herbs, vegetables, and flowers every color of the rainbow. Imaginations can run wild thinking of what can be. Making a plan and working as a family, a little piece of Heaven can be grown right in your own backyard.
Spring is also a wonderful time to grow our school. Research shows that the best recruitment strategy is "word of mouth." If you are happy with the care and attention being given to your child, tell your friends. If you are impressed with the variety and depth of learning that students are receiving, tell your co-workers. If you see the character development and Faith formation in your children, share with others who may only need a little encouragement to visit our school. Most tours end with a "yes" to enrollment. Why? It is because once people are here, they can sense that they are on holy ground. The high standards we value are evident. We are all working together to grow a little piece of Heaven right here in your own backyard.
Thank you for being part of the mission and ministry of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic School.
Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam,
Mrs. Marianne Mechura, M.Ed.

Did You Know?
Chess Team Places Fourth in US Chess Federation Rated Tournament
Over 250 players were registered for the USCF tournament. The competitors ranged in age from elementary through high school. Students were grouped by age, grade, and USCF rating. Since 5 th grader Michaela Gutermuth competed in a tournament last year, she already had a USCF rating. She found herself playing against 7 th and 8 th graders. Team awards are calculated by the scores of that school's top four players for all sections. The OLQP team scored 12.5 points to earn a fourth place trophy while the third place trophy went to a team with 15 points. So close! There were some tough losses, but the team displayed excellent sportsmanship, behavior, and attitude throughout the tournament.
We are proud of you!
