2018 Fun Run Festival of Colors

On May 11, 2018, Seacoast Charter School students will participate in the annual FUN RUN by walking,skipping, jogging or hopping on the Dover Community Trail as many times as possible during their designated hour. The Fun Run is the most anticipated school event of the year for our students. It is also our largest fundraiser of the year; providing SCS with much-needed funds to maintain the level of education and programming our families have come to expect. This year we are hoping to raise more money for SCC by offering a variety of sponsorship levels for businesses and families that range from $25-$250+. This is a great opportunity to support SCS and promote your business to over 200 families within our school community. The deadline to become a Fun Run sponsor is April 18. Bringing the Protective Factors Framework to Life in Your Work

The training is approved for 13.5 CEU's by NASW- NH Chapter, and the Board of Certified Guardians ad Litem, and qualifies for contact hours for nurses in related fields, and for professional development hours for early care and education professionals.  Training Certificates, provided at each session may meet the professional development requirements for others.  There is no cost to participants to attend the training.   The Strengthening Families Protective Factors Framework    identifies the characteristics that when present and robust in families, makes families stronger and child abuse and neglect less likely to occur. Professionals who work with children or parents are in a great position to promote these characteristics, called Protective Factors, through small but significant changes in how you approach your work.

Theatre Camp
April 23rd-April 27th

Theatre Camp is a joyous hands-on experience offering lessons in acting, dancing, singing, production, costuming, and more.  Students also have the opportunity to learn theatre techniques through fun games, improvisation, and enriching theatre-related arts & crafts, and more.  Although no theatre experience is required, students will work to showcase their theatre skills for an evening performance on the final day of camp for family, friends, and the public.  The Rochester Opera House is now accepting registrations for April Vacation Camp as well as Summer Theatre Camp at the Box Office, in City Hall.  Registration forms and camp dates and times can be found on the Opera House website. www.rochesteroperahouse.com 
All the World's a Stage!-Fringe Seacoast Fundraiser

Fringe Seacoast is having an event that might be just what you are looking for. Fringe Seacoast is in it's 2nd year and they are hosting a fundraiser to help make the festival a success. On April 29th, join the fun Fringe folk at the new Dover Art Center at the Washington Street Mills for All the World's A Stage - Fringe Seacoast Fundraiser.   Fringe Seacoast invites anyone and everyone to come to their fundraiser where live music, art, food and beverage tastings from local businesses, plus a live auction of local goodies and actors spouting on-demand Shakespeare (in honor of Shakespeare's birthday week) can be enjoyed.  Not only will this event help to support the festival but guests will be among the first to hear the announcement of the Fringe acts for 2018.

9th Annual Spirit of Recovery 5K

The Triangle Club will be holding the 9th Annual Spirit of Recovery 5K on  Sunday May 20  in Dover NH. The Spirit of Recovery is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the chemical-free meeting space for those recovering from addiction on the Seacoast. Hosting more than 40 meetings weekly, the Triangle Club serves over 90,000 members a year and has been our backyard recovery meetinghouse since 1984. Woodman Museum Open for the 2018 Season
Wednesdays-Sundays, 10am-5pm
Housing countless Seacoast treasures and artifacts in its four-building campus, the Woodman is set to unveil the results of its ambitious off-season projects. Nearly every facet of the museum has been re-organized or re-displayed. Visitors can view the new Childhood Gallery that features Boy and Girl Scouts memorabilia, games and toys, and dolls of various periods. Among the new additions to the museum is the APP: A Peek at the Past exhibit, the latest in a series of rotating exhibits featured in the Foster Gallery of the Woodman House. APP will explore the largely or fully replaced technologies in the areas of communication, entertainment and information-sharing. The exhibit will feature photography and film collections on loan from area photographer Thom Hindle, silent movie-era artifacts from Woodman docent Paul Timmerman, antique telephone technology from private collector Ernie Bruneau, and items from the Woodman Museum collection. www.woodmanmuseum.org

The Greater Dover Chamber of Commerce is now accepting applications for their Student Scholarship program which will award one area student $1,000 to be used towards post-secondary education costs.  The Chamber is also collecting nominations for their annual Educator of the Year award which includes $1,000 to be used towards classroom expenses.  Both programs are organized by the Chamber's Business & Education Partnership and sponsored by Measured Progress, Inc
