Congratulations 2018-2019 Graduates!

Students who have graduated in the  Summer 2018, Fall 2018 and the current Spring 2019 semesters,  RSS commends you on your great accomplishment this year and,  we wish you all the best in your future. It's been a privilege to have worked with you during your college years at UAF! If you have any questions about commencement, you can find information here. Also, don't forget to pick up a red sash from us if you are Alaska Native or American Indian. We hope to see you there!

Continuing students, you've (almost) made it through the semester! It's time to take a breath, finish up your finals, and have a safe, fun, and relaxing summer vacation. We can't wait to see you back here next semester!

Red Sashes

Red sashes signify Alaska Native and Native American graduates.

We have Sashes at the Front Desk at RSS and, the Advisors will be at Commencement backstage passing them out.

You can call our front desk at 907-474-7871 if you have questions.
Checklist for Finishing Up the Semester

Confirm your fall housing plans:
If you are continuing in UAF housing, be sure to renew your housing agreement and make your room selection. Any questions, call 474-7247.

Renew your FAFSA:
Renew your Free Application for Federal Student Aid. This is required for Pell Grant offers, student loan options and determining your student budget for your scholarship agencies.

Notify your funding agencies of your intent to continue:
If you have scholarships or grants that are continued into the next year, you should contact each agency or organization to ask what documentation they require for your continued status.

Send your final grades:
Most scholarship and grant agencies require a copy of your final grades at the end of each semester. If they only need an unofficial transcript or grade report, you can print that off of your uaonline.alaska.edu student records account. If they require an official transcript then you will need to request that from UAOnline and pay a fee. Final grades will be posted by noon on May 8th.

On April 25th,  we recognized a handful of outstanding staff and faculty here at UAF by presenting them with the Dennis Demmert Award. This year's recipients include  Walkie Charles,  Jann Laiti,  Andrew Luft and  Heather Aruffo . For this award, we ask students to nominate those who have made a positive impact on their academic efforts at UAF. The following people were awarded for their commitment to UAF's goal of being the educational center for Alaska Natives.

Gathering Room Schedule

Everyone is invited and encouraged to come to all of our events! That's why we make it super easy for you to find out what's going on. We put as much as we can in this newsletter, but because it only goes out once a month, there are some events that are inevitably absent. Because of this, we curate an event calendar on our website. We also frequently update our Facebook page, so be sure to like us! Finally, we send text messages on the day of our main events. If you'd like to receive them, just reply to this email with your cell phone number and the name of your carrier, contact your advisor, or give us a call at (907) 474-7871.
