The Christian Family

Join children, youth, and parents for The Christian Family this Sunday, April 8. We'll gather from 4:30-6 p.m. This month will kick-off our Love and Logic series - a workshop/education opportunity focused on a loving, balanced approach to parenting that is neither punitive nor permissive, but rather rooted in nurturing long-term relationships and building good character. This evening event will be followed up by a Sunday morning Christian Education series on the same topic.

Lyons Lecture 2018

We're just over two weeks away from this year's Lyons Lecture and we're thrilled to welcome Dr. J. Kameron Carter! Dr. Carter's presentation Postracial Blues will help us continue our conversation around race and religion, offering new insights and ways forward for people of faith committed to an anti-racist future. You can find out more about the lecture on our website or register here.

Holy Week Recap

First United Methodist Church enjoyed a busy Holy Week. We welcomed folks for personal prayer Monday through Wednesday, somber remembrances on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, and then joined together in jubilant triumph on Easter morning. Our Community Easter meal, in its 36th year, served over 300 guests with 50 volunteers on Sunday. Several area publications covered the event and we invite you to google First United Methodist Madison Easter meal to see what they had to say!

If you missed the service, you can catch Rev. Mark's Easter message on our YouTube channel.

Faces of FUMC

As a church downtown for good, we often have the privilege of sharing our space with groups and organizations that help us live into our mission of embodying hospitality and helping to realize a more loving and just world. There are 75,000 members of the WI chapter of Moms Demand Action. We were honored to host over 300 of those members who showed up today, April 5, for Advocacy Day. FUMC provided a gathering space for them as they prepared to move to the capitol where they visited with legislators about sensible gun laws.
