Tip of the Month
Spring into a Self-Guided Learning Option for Hearing Screener Training

Whether you are just beginning to explore the potential benefits of Otoacoustic Emissions (OAE) hearing screening for young children, or well underway w ith your screening efforts, we hope you'll visit our newly redesigned website page that now provides a self-guided structure t o g ain OAE screening skills at your own pace.

You'll notice that the video modules are grouped into four learning sessions:

Session 1 - Introductory Overview
Session 2 - The Screening Procedure
Session 3 - Screening Young Children
Session 4 - Followup, Documentation and Tracking

Within each Learning Session there are 3 types of activities where you will:
  1. View the video tutorial modules
  2. Complete a hands-on practice exercise
  3. Complete a brief, online practice exercise report to receive a Certificate of Completion. A Certificate will be emailed to you after submission of each report and a final Certificate is will be emailed upon completion of the entire 4-part series.
Before you start,
  • Make sure you have fully operational OAE equipment available for use.
  • If at all possible, identify a local pediatric audiologist or other individual with experience conducting OAE screening with young children who can assist you through the learning process.
Alternately, for individuals who prefer a guided learning experience, click on the sidebar link to register for the OAE Training Web Class being held this month.  There is no cost and there is still time to register and attend!
