Dear Lycée Parent or Gardian,
We were just advised
, that tomorrow morning, Friday 13 at 9:00 AM the Louisiana House of Representatives is considering House Bill 25, which requires charter schools to utilize the Teacher Retirement State of Louisiana (TSRL) retirement system for teachers. This bill is problematic for several reasons.
- Dramatic changes in personal retirement plans, force teachers to start over in a system that doesn't recognize their previous years of service.
- Schools like Lycée that do not currently participate in the very costly TRSL would be forced to make drastic changes to their budgets.
- This mandate would deprive charter schools of the autonomy that allows them to do what is best for their staffs.
Please help us by contacting the following committee members to
voice your opposition to HB 25.
