The cosmetic surgery trend so far for 2019?
'Rich girl face'
(not to be confused with 'Resting Bitch Face', which we can also provide)
After noticing a dramatic increase in female patients under the age of 30 requesting cosmetic procedures such as dermal fillers, chemical peels and Botox injections, who were posting their results on social media, plastic surgeon Dr. Dirk Kremer coined the term 'rich girl face'.
Dr. Kremer described in an interview with
Glamour magazine
how younger clients are not only owning up to the cosmetic treatments they are getting done, they want it to be obvious that they've "had work".
"The puffed and plumped 'rich face' aesthetic is practically the new Louis Vuitton handbag in certain circles - an instant, recognizable marker of wealth and status," Dr Kremer explained.

Skinspirations has been chosen as one of the first Tampa Bay p
ractices to offer the newest competitor to Botox.
In a previous newsletter I'd referred to a new Botox competitor called Nabota in Korea, that has now been approved for use in the US under the name Jeuveau. It has been used in Canada since 2018 and is very similar in effects and duration to Botox & Dysport. The treatment price for Jeuveau should be announced in the next few weeks.
Other News in Neuromodulators:
Increased Dose = Longer Duration of Results - For years aesthetic practitioners have been using the minimum number of units required, of neuromodulators like Botox, to relax the muscles that cause wrinkles. It turns out that higher doses at each injection point can increase the duration of results up to 6 months and sometimes longer.
As an example, 20 units of Botox is an average dose for frown lines that results in about 3-4 months of muscle relaxation. When 40 units is used instead, the results last several months longer.
MicroTox Decreases Redness, Fine Lines, Pore Size & Oil Production - Instead of being injected into the muscles like typical Botox & Dysport treatments, MicroBotox treatments involve multiple mini-dose injections just below the skin's surface where it shrinks tiny blood vessels, pores, smooths fine lines and decreases the production of oil. It sounds painful but rather than injecting each site individually like with the usual Botox treatments we have 2 less painful options available at Skinspirations. We have a special needle head that penetrates the skin in 7 sites simultaneously but feels like a single pin prick. We can also apply the medication as an add-on during a microneedling treatment. MicroTox is not usually priced less than typical Botox treatments. The number of units needed varies on the number of areas treated and ranges from 20 - 80 units of Botox or 50- 200 units of Dysport.

Ingredient Spotlight: Glycolic Acid
Glycolic acid can improve skin issues like blackheads, hyperpigmentation, enlarged pores, fine lines, wrinkles & keratosis pilaris just to name a few. Its multitasking abilities make it effective at decreasing excess oil production as well as helping to cure dry skin.
"Glycolic acid put skin care on the map in the '90s," says board-certified, Beverly Hills-based dermatologist Dr. Vicki Rapaport, M.D. "It was the first ingredient that was either incorporated into a take-home cream or done in a peel that actually did anything without breaking the bank or requiring anesthesia." Glycolic acid is probably the most common of the Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs), a group of naturally occurring fruit acids found in the foods we eat. More specifically, glycolic acid is a derivative of sugarcane. (Do you hear this my "natural product loving" ladies? Just because it's a chemical does not make it akin to dousing yourself in Clorox).
AHAs loosen the bond of dead skin cells & work on the hardened sebum (oil) that seals those cells within your pores. It is this combo of oil & dead skin that causes clogged pores & leads to breakouts & blackheads. The build up of old dead cells creates a sallow and lackluster complexion that can feel and rough.
These acids effectively boost exfoliation causing old skin cells to slough away revealing fresh new cells. This process also allows our other skincare products to be better absorbed therefore increasing their benefits to the skin (especially when dealing with hyperpigmentation or melasma).
