Lovely Feet
How lovely on the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news,
Who announces peace and brings good news of happiness,
Who announces salvation, and says to Zion, “Your God reigns!”
Isaiah 52:7

We are privileged to have so many faithful believers working with us in the village of Kamonkoli to reach the community for Christ and join Him in all He is doing there. We have over 70 nationals working for us in full and part-time positions. Some very professional as administrators, social workers and teachers and others serving as cooks and cleaners and less skilled labor. None the less, all are part of the body of Christ and each one is very much needed to serve the over 450 sponsored children as well as others at Genesis school and in the community. Their families are all meaningfully impacted and experience Jesus in so many ways.

Katherine's early years in Uganda
Katherine, Melanie, Elizabeth and Laura are our 4 missionaries from the U.S. They each play a vital role in the work through administration, teaching, loving and more. They have immersed their lives into the lives of the people of Kamonkoli and share the love of Jesus with all who will listen. As we celebrate the 20 Year Anniversary of Hines Ugandan Ministries we think about all God has done since Katherine first committed her life to His work in Uganda. Seven years ago Melanie joined her and two years ago Laura and Elizabeth came on board.
Drop us a note!
Our missionaries work hard and need your prayer and emotional support too. Consider sending them a card or email to show your appreciation to one or all four of them. You can find our field address or send an email for us to pass on to them by clicking contact and then “write my child” on our website, www.hineskids.org. Or you can thank them on our hineskids facebook page.

Thank you to those who continue to give for school uniforms and shoes as well as hygiene kits for our sponsored boarding students. These are year round needs for our growing kids, both sponsored and other students from the community that attend Genesis. We appreciate your faithful support.

May is always a big month for us with 2 nd term school fees and further expenses for our university students. We have a particularly large number of other expenses hitting us this spring with vehicle and building repairs and needed curriculum updates at Genesis. Because summer giving is always a little less we ask that you consider giving just a little more in your gift in May to help cover these needs and boost our summer cash flow. Just $25 or $50 from each of you would take us a long way.

When Melanie May joined our team she helped start our first few grades of Genesis Primary and Nursery School in the tiny one room Sunday school building of our partnering local church. She also became the commander of our weekly AWANA program that Katherine had begun many years prior. Melanie has unconditionally loved the children and shown them Jesus both through AWANA clubs and
Melanie & Paul
by teaching meaningful Bible classes at Genesis school. She has also worked closely with our Genesis teachers to help grow their faith and Biblical knowledge and to help them weave a Biblical world view into all of their curriculum. Melanie has been an invaluable contributor to our media productions and has visited many of our supporters in the U.S. to offer ministry updates.

We are happy to announce that Melanie is engaged to be married later this year to Paul Waisukirawa, an attorney originally from nearby Mbale who now lives and works in Kampala, the capital city of Uganda. With this wonderful news comes sad news for us, that Melanie will be leaving us later this year and returning to the U.S. for she and Paul’s wedding and to remain for several years. They desire to return to Uganda in several years to build a life in Kampala where they hope to be involved in ministry as well.  We wish Melanie and Paul the very best and are so very thankful for Melanie's commitment and work with us the past 7 years.

Laura Jones and Elizabeth Costley have been a true blessing to the ministry the past two years
and we are excited to see how God continues to use them as they continue their work with us.
They work endless hours at our Genesis school working in our Jump Start program serving our
struggling students. They also role model to and coach our teachers to help them learn new
teaching methods. We have been raising funds to build a missionary home with 3 units to house these young ladies and future missionaries. Construction began on our first 2 units and we hope to have them ready for Laura and Elizabeth to move into at the end of June. Thank you to all who contributed to this need as we want to take good care of those who are serving with us.
