The eLion
All of us at St. Mark’s share a commitment to our faith and to our community, and we welcome visitors regardless of religious background, race, sexual orientation, or gender identity. Everyone is welcome here.
Lion of the Year
Each year at our celebration of our Patronal Feast day, the Feast of St. Mark, it is our custom to announce and honor a Lion of the Year—a lay person so honored because of their love, commitment and service to our Lord and to this community. On behalf of the wardens and myself and, in fact, the entire community of St. Mark’s, I am delighted to announce that this year’s Lion of the Year is Donna Richardson.

Donna is best known at St. Mark’s as the face of the Social Justice and Outreach Ministry Team at St. Mark’s. While countless people at St. Mark’s do the work of social justice and outreach - from walking in the CROP Walk to buying gifts for the Revive Christmas Basket program, from making sandwiches to serving lunch on Wednesdays, from participating in Interfaith Action of Evanston events to standing together against racism and Islamaphobia - all of these efforts require planning and coordination and especially in the past year, Donna Richardson has led the charge. She has shopped for groceries for Wednesday lunch, created bulletin announcements and flyers for upcoming events, coordinated our efforts and recruited volunteers and written countless thank you notes. And so we say thank you Donna! And congratulations on being this year’s Lion of the Year.

Worship & Formation
Come and Sing Choir Sundays! Last Sunday of Each Month
Anytime is a good time to join the choir! However, sometimes the pieces are a little intimidating to just pick up and Thursday night rehearsals are too much for some people’s busy schedule. To accommodate this, an accessible choral work will be chosen for “drop-ins” to join on the last Sunday of each Month. No choral experience necessary! No strings attached! To participate, stop into the sanctuary 30 minutes before the later worship service to rehearse without a mid-week, late-night rehearsal. Rehearsal for the “Come and Sing Choir Sunday” will be every Sunday in the month leading up to the Sunday in which the piece is to be sung.
(Anyone is welcome to join the choir on all Sundays with rehearsals on Thursday nights in the choir room from 7:30-9:00.)
Coffee Hour Hosts Needed for after services through June! If you are available to help set up and clean up after a service, please sign up in the parlor, or email Timothy and let him know what weekend!
Staying Connected
Jubi-latte and Tea Deum (Coffee with the Priest)!
Come sit and chat with Pastor Debra at Curt's Cafe South, 1813 Dempster Street, Evanston. We meet on Thursdays at 1:30 p.m., see you then!

Coriolis Spring Concert
The Coriolis Spring Concert will take place on Saturday, May 18 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Luke’s (939 Hinman, Evanston). This is their 32nd spring program focusing on the theme Conflict and Resolution. Conflict and resolution are often found in the choral literature; sometimes in the music itself, sometimes in the text, and sometimes both. References abound to “my soul on fire,” calls for help (alas!), crowds crying out in scorn or threatening persecution and murder, and contemplation of silence and solitude. But fear not! Resolution awaits in a cappella settings by Barber, Cordero, Dowland, Lauridsen, Stroop, Tchaikovsky, Whitacre, and more. St. Mark’s parishioners Patrick Furlong and Chris Schultze both sing with Coriolis. Program details are available on their Facebook page. You may purchase concert tickets either online at their website, or at the door on the day of the concert. Credit cards are always accepted. General admission is $20, and youth tickets for those 18 and under are $5. For more information, please call Eric Skalinder at 847.420.5085.
