An academic bilingual community fostering global citizenship
Dear Park Spanish Immersion School Community,

I had the opportunity this morning to listen to some of our third graders practicing for our second and third grade concert tonight at 6:30 in the PSI/Central Gymnasium. Their voices were beautiful, and I cannot wait to see our students showcasing their hard work.

Yesterday morning, I was at our new site for a meeting. Work continues to progress on track. While rain is necessary this time of year, a little less would help the outdoor projects!  Please click here to see a few pictures.

Our fifth graders culminated their DARE ( Drug Abuse Resistance Education ) program with St. Louis Park Police Officer Jennifer Capobianco this week. We are grateful for the St. Louis Park Police Department's support of our school resources officers!

Next week, our second graders will venture to the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum on Tuesday and the third graders will have a field trip to the Mill City Museum on Wednesday. We are grateful for the support of our volunteers!!

Have a great week, and keep reading!

Sincerely,

Corey

Site Work Continues at PSI's New Building in 2019-2020!
Building renovations continue and site work is underway at the Cedar Manor School site in preparation for Park Spanish Immersion Elementary School.

This week, brush and trees near the south side of the pond, will be removed to construct the storm water management system which has been designed to meet, or exceed, all requirements of the Minnehaha Watershed District and the US Army Corps of Engineers.

The overwhelming quantity of trees to be removed are boxelder and ash trees, which are considered invasive or problematic species under the City of St. Louis Park’s forestry guidelines. These trees will be replaced with a diverse mix of species (following the City of St. Louis Park’s tree replacement guidelines) that will lead to healthier tree growth.

Cartonera Project:
Empty (Family Size) Cereal Boxes Still Needed!
We are still collecting empty, FAMILY SIZE, cereal boxes for the upcoming Cartonera Project.

What is a cartonera? Translated quite literally, a cartonera is a cardboard book. Cartoneras got their start in Argentine in 2003 as a way of making reading and writing accessible to all. Click HERE for more information about the Cartonera Project.
Home & School Connection
Volunteering at your child's school and school activities is one way to support your child's education. Research shows that supporting your child’s education at home is also important.
