I've got basically a month left to get stuff listed and sold before it's time to hang up the apron for summer camp staff.  My employee will keep everything shipped out but once June gets here it will be time to get out of the office and out in the warm South Carolina sunshine.
Vintage Scouting Memorabilia On eBay
This past weekend I was too zonked after returning from our pack camping trip to get out a newsletter.  We had over 100 people attend the trip including a big mix of boy and girl cubs.  One of the treats for the weekend (besides the perfect weather) was the local shooting sports committee allowed us to get in some BB and archery during the afternoon.

My son Patrick not only got to go hiking, make a new hiking staff, and shoot archery...he was also awarded his Bear badge. It is so funny to hear how he is ready to shed the blues and put on a tan uniform.  I am not however nearly as anxious.  I would rather time slow down and am grateful that we still have a few more meetings to go in the Cub Scout blues.  I know everyone tells you time moves fast with your kids but that still doesn't soften the blow when they reach milestones like this.

Scouting Auctions Ending Soon on eBay
On Sunday we stuck around a little bit to do a service project to help the camp staff.  With some impending construction we worked to harvest a dozen good pioneering spars from trees that were due to be bull dozed.  With that extra time the shooting sports guys allowed us to try out some of the camp's new toys for cowboy action.  Sophia got to shoot the new lever action Henry rifle.

I have 185 live auctions up that are all first time runs.  Almost all of these are OA flaps looking for a new home.
Even I got a turn on the new toys.  For cowboy action you shoot three different guns at steel targets in a themed setting.  I got to try the coach shotgun that has two triggers and side-by-side barrels.  I also did very well on the lever action Henry rifle.  I didn't get a turn with the 6-shooter revolver but will look forward to hopefully doing that at summer camp.  The shooting sports committee will have everything set up next weekend for their big weekend event and then we will see if and how it can be worked into summer camp.  I can't wait!

In Charlotte, North Carolina I have an antique mall booth that is filled with nothing but Scouting stuff.  I call this location my clearance center because I've marked down everything to move.  A lot of what you will find there are items that are too bulky to easily ship from an Internet store.  The booth is located in The Sleepy Poet which is a well established antique mall on South Blvd in Charlotte.  The mall is open 7-days/week year round.  So the next time you are in the area come check it out.
