Celebrating Springfield's Biggest, Best and Brightest

In case you have not heard, the City of Bright Nights Ball will be held at the new MGM Springfield Resort Casino on November 10. We are excited to be a part of their inaugural season. Their team and our committee have grand ideas to make it the #partyoftheyear.

This is just one of the many projects we are working on . . . September 11th Memorial, World's Largest Pancake Breakfast, Star Spangled Springfield and so much more!

City of Bright Nights Ball Heading to MGM Springfield

Spread the word! The City of Bright Nights Ball is heading to MGM Springfield on November 10.

Monarch Place President, Paul Picknelly, made the announcement that the gala would be taking a one-year hiatus from the Sheraton Springfield to help MGM Springfield celebrate its opening. He then announced Mike Mathis, MGM Springfield President, as the chair of the black-tie gala, who declared it would be "the party of the year."

Tony Gleason, II, with David Johndrow, of Gleason-Johndrow Landscaping and the 2017 City of Bright Nights Ball Co-Chairs, offered some sage advice to the new Chair. Spirit of Springfield Chair, Attorney Melinda Phelps, praised all who support the Spirit of Springfield and the organization's mission to bring the community together in celebration.

Many have already committed their support to sponsor the gala which is the Spirit of Springfield's largest fundraiser of the year. These include Gleason Johndrow Landscaping, The Colvest Group, and Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company.

Springfield Business Improvement District

As the Director of the Springfield Business Improvement District (SBID) and one of the newest members of the Spirit of Springfield Board of Directors, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Judy and her team and be more involved in the many great programs this organization offers. The SBID has always worked in tandem with the Spirit of Springfield, from offering logistical support for the Pancake Breakfast to assisting in fundraising efforts for many of their great initiative and programs including the City of Bright Nights Ball and most recently Springfield's September 11th Monument.

Our mission to facilitate growth has never been more prevalent than it is today. The "Renaissance of Springfield" is on the horizon and we are seizing every opportunity to create a dynamic public realm and boost economic vitality and this is exemplified through our partnership with the Spirit of Springfield.

Spring is in the air and I'd like to take this opportunity to share with you our 4th annual Restaurant Week. From April 20-29th, we invite the community to come together and celebrate the ever-growing food culture in Springfield. With over 30 participating restaurants in all nine neighborhoods offering everything from breakfast to fine dining there is something for everyone. A full list of participants, menus and special events can be found at springfielddowntown.com. Enjoy!

We here at the SBID are proud to have a role in the "Renaissance of Springfield" and look forward to what the future has to offer in making this great city of ours a destination to Live, Work & Play.
