Graduation for the SSPP Class of 2019 takes place on Friday, May 24. At this time the eighth graders and their parents will be riding high filled with excitement and pride about what has been accomplished. Come August, however, a little pit in their stomachs will start to grow in anticipation of high school looming on the horizon.
Both students and parents alike will wonder.....can there be continued success at the next level when the competition and expectations are so much more challenging? Are our children prepared for the challenges and opportunities which await them?
Our Senior Spotlight series answers those and other questions with an emphatic
YES!
Peter and Paul grads, whether they be students at Naperville North, St. Francis, Benet, Neuqua Valley, or Napervillle Central are indeed ready for success in high school.

Service Involvement:
- Member of National Charity League, Naperville Chapter (10, 11, 12) that serves over 40 community charities.
- Most active with Meals on Wheels, Little Friends, Humanitarian Service Project, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and Feed My Starving Children. Provided over 200 hours of service to these charities in total.
- Benet Christmas Drive and school sponsored community projects
College Plans:
- I plan on attending the University of Notre Dame in the fall. GO IRISH!!
Anticipated Major/ Career Goals:
- I will be majoring in Mathematics and hoping through classes and college experiences that a career path will be determined. I'm leaving my options open for now.
How my Catholic Faith resonated with me today as a teenager:
- High School years can be fun, scary, exciting and terrifying all in the same week! I am so grateful to SSPP and my family for providing me such a strong faith and belief that God is with me in these times- the good and the bad.
- During a difficult personal time, I was comforted by knowing God was right beside me, I could turn to him, pray to him and trust in his plans.
- It is nice to know God is with you while growing up!
What I learned at SSPP that has helped me in high school:
- SSPP taught me to not procrastinate. I remember in fourth grade having to stay up way too late to finish a big project I had procrastinated doing. I was tired and miserable the next day and knew I hadn't done my very best. From that experience, and the overall rigor of SSPP studies, I understood the value of time management. I learned to complete projects in a timely manner which helped keep stress to a minimum.
Teacher at SSPP who had the most influence on me?
- This was a tough one because there were several teachers I could have listed, but I absolutely loved Mrs. Saul's math class. She taught the material well and taught us how to stay organized with her famous math binders. She was always so nice and helpful and somehow made math fun. I enjoyed her class so much that it created a lifelong love for math. Her influence on me is still being shown as I am planning on majoring in mathematics in college.
Best Peter and Paul experience that I cherish:
- Spirit Day during Catholic Schools Week was definitely one of my favorite experiences at SSPP. I loved the cheers, the t-shirts and the competition.
- Eighth grade Spirit Day was extra special as our grade pulled off an exciting win and had bragging rights for the rest of the year!
Advice for current students:
- Regardless of where you go to high school make the effort to stay close to your SSPP friends. It is a unique and special bond of nine years growing up together, and so worth the effort of maintaining.
- Also, don't be afraid to try new things! I thought I would hate golf, but I decided to try it the summer before high school. I ended up playing all four years in high school, and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. You never know what you might like until you try it.

Beginning on May 7, we will be selling Queen of Hearts tickets at the St. Paul Center for New Evangelization
(old convent) on the corner of
Benton and Brainard diagonally across from Pfeiffer Hall.
You may purchase tickets on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday from 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Stop by before or after Mass or after drop-off or before pickup.
