Value Based P4P Newsletter
MAY 2018
Welcome to the VBP4P newsletter!
The goal of the VBP4P monthly newsletter is to keep stakeholders up to date about program changes and deadlines. The newsletter has three main content areas:
  • Need to Do, which will alert stakeholders to information and requirements for successful program participation, such as upcoming deadlines.
  • In Other News, which will share other program-related news, such as upcoming webinars or conferences.
  • In the Pipeline, which will provide a longer term view of upcoming key VBP4P program dates.
All VBP4P newsletters will be archived in the Newsletters section of the IHA website, so you can easily find and share the latest program information.

Preliminary Measurement Year (MY) 2017 Quality Results Released Today!
Your physician organization's (PO) MY 2017 preliminary quality reports are now available and ready for your review on the VBP4P Reporting Portal! The reports provide an in-depth look at your organization's efforts over the past year to improve clinical quality and patient experience for Commercial HMO/POS and Medicare Advantage members. The preliminary quality reports include Commercial HMO/POS results for the Clinical, Advancing Care Information, and Patient Experience VBP4P domains; Medicare Advantage reports include clinical measure results.

Now is the time to review your reports! Results cannot be changed once finalized.
Please review your reports thoroughly and submit questions or appeals during the Questions & Appeals Period, which begins today, May 25, and ends at 5 p.m. PDT, Friday, June 15, 2018 We strongly encourage you to review your reports to check for possible errors and submit questions or request for appeals as early as possible.  IHA has updated the process for submitting a question or appeal so that you get what you need faster!  To learn more or submit a question or appeal, see the updated Questions and Appeals Submission Guide and Submission Form

After the Questions & Appeals period, MY 2017 results will be finalized. Final MY 2017 Commercial HMO/POS results will be used by health plans to calculate VBP4P incentives, publicly reported through the Office of the Patient Advocate and used to identify Excellence in Healthcare Award winners. Final Measurement Year 2016 Total Cost of Care Results
Final measurement year 2016 (MY 2016) Total Cost of Care results are available to program participants on the VBP4P Reporting Portal. Thank you to everyone who participated in the review period! Participant review is an important process that ensures publicly reported TCC data is validated and comprehensive.

Given the delay in finalizing MY 2016 total cost of care results, the VBP4P Governance Committee has recommended that MY 2016 TCC results not be used for public reporting or physician organization recognition. IHA will not generate MY 2016 Total Cost of Care star ratings for public reporting on the 2016-2017 Office of the Patient Advocate Commercial Medical Group Report Card or award the Excellence in Healthcare Award. Public reporting and the Excellence in Healthcare Awards will return this Fall with the MY 2017 TCC results.

Preliminary MY 2017 Appropriate Resource Use (ARU) & Total Cost of Care (TCC) Reports
Your PO's preliminary MY 2017 appropriate resource use and total cost of care reports will be available on the VBP4P Reporting Portal on August 6, 2018. As a reminder, all participating health plans submit claims and encounter data to support generation of results for all contracted POs. Preliminary results are then subject to a three-week review by POs before the results are finalized. Final ARU report results are used, in conjunction with the final quality report results, as the basis for VBP4P shared-savings incentives, public reporting (readmissions and total cost of care only; see the MY 2017 measure set) and determining Excellence in Healthcare Award winners.
