Old Woodward Reconstruction Project Update - 5/25/18

Another productive week of construction is winding down. Throughout the week contractors worked to prepare for the pouring of concrete on North Old Woodward. On South Old Woodward, crews connected buildings to the newly installed water and sewer services. Fiber optic conduits were installed along Maple Road. In addition, t he east/west crosswalk at Old Woodward and Maple was moved approximately 50 feet south. This change ensures pedestrians may safely cross Old Woodward without being too close to the Maple intersection. Pedestrians crossing E. Maple while on the north or south side of Old Woodward use a new crosswalk in front of the Jos. A. Bank store. Pedestrians crossing W. Maple while on the north or south side of Old Woodward now use a crosswalk in front of Dick O' Dow's. This weekend contractors will work Saturday, but will be off on Sunday and Monday in recognition of the Memorial Day holiday.

Looking ahead to next week, (5-29-18 to 6-2-18), it is anticipated that contractors will begin pouring concrete on North Old Woodward. Crews will continue to connect buildings to the newly installed water and sewer services along South Old Woodward. This process will involve temporary water shutoffs. Advisories and in-person notice will be given as soon as possible so merchants can make plans for this necessary process to connect to the new underground water infrastructure.
