Historic Carriage House
Under Renovation
In 2018 the Moffat Library was approved for a $135,000 grant from the  2017-18 NYS Division of Library Development Library Construction Program towards the renovation of the Library's historic Carriage House building.

We are happy to report that the renovation of the carriage house is now underway, with completion scheduled for August 2019.  The rehabilitated historic structure will provide additional and much-needed space for the Library's historical and other special collections.

Original historic features of the Carriage House, including doors, windows and window trim, roofing frieze boards, corbels and rafter tails await restoration and preservation.

"We are thrilled to be able to have an additional space to assist in
providing even more services and materials to the community," said Library Director Carol McCrossen.    "Moreover, the fact that we are able to rehabilitate an existing historic structure to meet those needs makes this even more exciting for us."

HAPPENINGS:
Tiffany Windows Talk
with Laura Nichols
Over 35 local residents attended last Tuesday night's talk by art historian and educator, Laura Nicholls.

Sponsored by the Friends of the Moffat Library, Nicholls used Moffat Library's prized Tiffany Windows as a spring board to examine other examples of Tiffany's stained glass windows throughout our area, as well as many other glass objects of art that were also created in his studios.

Examples were shown of the styles and themes that were the underlying inspiration for many of his works and those who worked for him. An enlightening program for all!
