May 2, 2019
Dear Parents,

The staff at Lovejoy Elementary has definitely been spoiled this week.  We can not thank you enough for your generosity and continual support. It is definitely an honor and blessing to be a part of this amazing community.  A big thank you to our PTA for coordinating such a fantastic week.
Unfortunately, due to our hectic schedule for the remainder of May, we are unable to reschedule the bike rodeo.  Coach Nicholson and I are looking at other times in the year when we can have our Bike Rodeo so we will hopefully not have to reschedule it.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.

All My Best,
Wendy Craft

NEW! Super Skills Day
Super Skills Day is an event where all students have the opportunity to show off their athletic skills. This year's event is slated for Friday, May 24, 2019. The primary students (K-2nd) participate from 9:30-11:30am  and the intermediate (3rd and 4th) from 12:30-2:30pm. The students will be preparing for Super Skills Day in a few weeks. Paired students will progress through a variety of skill stations. Some of the events include soccer dribble, football pass, bowling, hula hut and tire roll. Coach Nicholson and Coach Moseley asks that students come properly attired in shorts or sweatpants with running shoes, not spiked track style. Please be sure your child brings a water bottle that can be refilled several times, and labeled with his/her name. Parents are invited to join in the activities as enthusiastic spectators or volunteer to help during the afternoon session. If you would like to volunteer to help, please go to this link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0c4bacac28a0fe3-super and sign up. (Make sure you complete the online background check!) Events will take place on the playground and indoors.  Your support is greatly appreciated!!!

Important News from Student Nutrition Regarding Student Meal Accounts
This is a courtesy message from Lovejoy Student Nutrition Services to inform households of an upcoming change in student meal accounts. In an effort to minimize negative balances at the end of the school year, beginning Wednesday, May 8 and for the remainder of the school year, students will no longer be able to charge meals which will result in the student incurring a negative balance to their meal account. Students may continue to use their lunch accounts as long as they have money in the account. Households with students who currently have negative balances will receive reminder emails and phone calls. Federal regulations prohibit us from rolling over negative balances to the next school year. Please make arrangements to remit payment for any negative lunch accounts your child may have incurred.
All positive balances will be rolled over to next school year. If you have a graduating senior, funds may be transferred to any sibling in the school district. To request a meal account refund, please complete a refund request form located on the Student Nutrition website. For assistance, please contact Student Nutrition at 469.742.8041.

2019-2020 School Supplies: Order Now!
We are happy to announce that we have chosen to sell pre-packaged school supplies for the next school year.  School Tool Box comes with the teacher-approved school supplies your student requires and saves you time searching for those hard-to-find items in the back-to-school crowds.  Just place your order online and it will be waiting for your child at school. If you have any questions please contact Erin Johnston at [email protected] or 469.742.8080. Please click here to order your supplies! * Please note:  The school supply list does not apply to current fourth graders (2019-2020 fifth graders). You will receive school supply information from SCIS.

The total for 4th Grade School Supplies is correct on the School Tool Box website.  We added a white poster board which changed the total to $72.29.
As you may have noticed, HEADPHONES are not included on the list for school supplies.  We are not ordering the headphones from School Tool Box this year. We are asking that each parent bring in their student's own preferred headphones.  Included in your child's Thursday Folder is a flyer for www.schoolphones.com .  These headphones were designed by a dad whose son continually destroyed his headphones at school.  Please check them out and order if you think these are a good fit for your child.
