This year marks the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s assassination, and one troupe is exploring what the Civil Rights leader might have done hours before his violent death. L.A. Reelabilities presents over 100 films around NYC -- including in Astoria, Forest Hills, and Jamaica -- from March 8 to March 14. The goal is to promote awareness and appreciation of what organizers call “the most underrepresented minority in American meda." Watch narratives, documentaries, and animation on everything from cerebral palsy to dwarfism to mental illness.

Art Kane took a photo of 57 jazz musicians in front of a Manhattan brownstone for Esquire magazine in 1958. Entitled “ A Great Day in Harlem ,” the black-and-white image symbolized the genre and neighborhood. Fast forward to May 19, 2018, and Art’s son, Jonathan, is going to snap a shot of Queens residents near the Unisphere in Flushing Meadows Corona Park.

The Rockaway and Sunnyside parades reached their final destinations last weekend, but the borough is still celebrating St. Patrick's Day. Bayside hosts a pub crawl and an inaugural parade on March 24, and there is l unch with the police commissioner at Terrace on the Park on March 15. So put on some green and celebrate the Emerald Isle and Irish culture.
