The 2019 Marketing Muse Conference, open to all Queen's University staff and faculty engaged in marketing-related activities, is happening on
Thursday, May 23, 2019.
MUSE provides professional development for any staff and faculty engaged in marketing and communications activities, and fosters opportunities for collaboration and inter-unit learning.

The Faculty of Arts and Science has begun a Twitter account specifically for staff and faculty members.
Follow us to stay up-to-date on important deadlines and news from the Faculty office.
Please note that this account is not a replacement for the regular staff and faculty newsletters or other important messages from the Faculty office, but is meant to supplement and reinforce existing messages and deadlines between newsletters, as well as share and amplify other stories and messages that are of interest to staff and faculty.
|
The Arts and Science marketing and communications unit is inviting participation in two new groups:
Arts and Science Communicators Working Group (ASCwg)
This working group brings together staff in Arts and Science that have responsibilities related to marketing, communications, and / or recruitment - this could include content writers, designers, web managers, event coordinators, etc. The goals of this working group include message cohesion, cross-promotion of activities, and collaboration of efforts. We also hope to provide some further training opportunities through this group beyond the annual marketing MUSE conference. The group meets monthly in the Faculty Office.
Please let
Kate Clarke
know if you would like to be a member of this working group.
Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Indigeneity (EDI+I) Communications Advisory Panel
This panel of students, faculty, and staff will advise on the marketing and communications initiatives of the Faculty and when possible participate as advisors to the Communicators Working Group on communications related projects. Most of the advisory panel work will be done by email, but a quarterly meeting will be established to review bigger initiatives and identify opportunities for improvement.
Please let
Kate Clarke know if you would like to be on the EDI+I Communications Advisory Panel.

The Awards spreadsheet used for reporting your graduating student nominees has been uploaded to
QShare.
There is a spreadsheet for each Department, and you should find all awards for your Department listed in the same manner as in previous years.
Please be sure to read to the instructions for completing the spreadsheet
.
Once you have completed your nominations, please SAVE a copy with your DEPARTMENTAL INITIALS and upload the completed spreadsheet to
Qshare
on or before Friday, May 10th, 2019.
Please note that we are asking for graduating student nominations only at this time. The call for undergraduate award nominations will be sent out in early June.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT EMAIL YOUR SPREADSHEET.
IN ACCORDANCE WITH FIPPA (FREEDOM OF INFORMATION AND PROTECTION OF PRIVACY ACT) THIS INFORMATION MUST BE SHARED VIA A SECURE METHOD (QSHARE).
- The Spreadsheet
The link to the spreadsheet can be found here.
Sign in using your Queen's net ID and password.
Please be sure to read the instructions for completing the spreadsheet.
- Award Terms
The Convocation Awards include departmental medals and prizes. The terms for all the awards can be found on the spreadsheet and on the Student Awards website.
- Selection of Nominees
There is a PeopleSoft query that will assist you in selecting all students registered in Plans offered by your Department, provide their GPA information and help determine appropriate nominees for your awards.
Navigation: Reporting Tools > Query > Query Viewer
Search by Query Name, and enter
AH_GRADUATING_STUDENTS_CFK
When determining award recipients, remember to consider degree candidates for Fall 2018 Convocation along with Spring 2018 degree candidates. If you determine that a student who is assumed to be graduating in the Fall should be recommended for a prize, indicate that in the comments section and we will hold the prize and award it in the Fall. If, in the fall, the student's standing changes to the extent that s/he is no longer eligible for the prize, the Department may recommend that the prize be retroactively awarded to a student who graduated in Spring 2018. In this case, the prize winner would be listed in the Fall Convocation program.
We have also uploaded to
Qshare
the Guidelines, approved by the Senate Committee, on Scholarships and Student Aid, which may be used to help you with your nominations for the Departmental Medals and for an award that must go to the "top" or "highest achieving student", if you happen to have two or more students with the same cumulative GPA. All supporting resources are in the Instructions folder.
If you are a new Chair of Undergraduate Studies or staff member and have not been involved in the Awards process before and would like assistance, please contact Katherine Scott by email or at ext. 77312
