The Optimist Club of the Cross Roads, Kingston, Jamaica is highlighted this month for its anti- bullying campaign.
"Observations in our society, and in particular the primary schools, have revealed that the Optimist International Caribbean District's flagship campaign should not only be geared towards children, but that adults, parents and teachers need to be sensitized about this very worrying and important topic," said Crossroads President, Angel Johnson. "The meeting, February 28, was interactive between the Optimists and parents, guardians and teachers. A real life situation was brought to the fore by a parent whose child appeared to be experiencing some amount of bullying."
The Optimist presentation identified four key areas of bullying, signs of bullying and how parents can help their child if they suspect they are being bullied. The Cross Roads Optimist Club reports the program has impacted hundreds of students in the Kingston area.
