Continued Dryness Raises Early Concerns



December 2017-January 2018 snowfall is well above previous season levels. However, portions of Illinois and parts of the Plains have slipped into drought stages. If conditions in the Plains continue, Illinois farmers should keep an eye out for this drought to spread north and east from June-August.

Land Sales in the Last 90 Days



The Price Check listing includes sales results of 61 different parcels of farmland reported since October. These sales are from public auctions which concluded with successful bids; they represent 5,309 total acres in 23 different counties selling for a grand total of $38.1 million with an average price of $4,020 per acre. The sales ranged from a high of $13,500 per acre for 83 acres in Morgan County to a low of $2,050 per acre for 100 acres in Pulaski County.

$400,000 Gift Grows FCI's Annual Support
 

FCI's farmdoc endowment now provides more than $30,000 of program support annually on behalf of its cooperative membership to a cutting-edge initiative which provides tools and resources to equip farmers to make better farm management decisions, especially during the tightening of today's Illinois farm economy.

 
Ag Economy Barometer
Producer Sentiment Decreases to 126




The Ag Economy Barometer measures the health of the U.S. agriculture economy with an index value based on a survey of agricultural producers on economic sentiment. A score of 100 means producer sentiment is unchanged from the six-month baseline research period; a score higher than 100 means sentiment improved from the base period; a score lower than 100 means sentiment declined versus the base period.
