Dr. Eva Benzein (Sweden) and her colleagues recently received renewed funding for another 5-year period for the Center for Collaborative Palliative Care. Co-financed by Linnaeus University, the Region of Kronoberg (hospital and community care), and matched by the Kamprad Family Foundation, this renewed funding of over 9 million Swedish krona is focused on improving palliative care in Kronoberg, Sweden. As a part of the mission, there is also a strong emphasis on family focused nursing in palliative practice, research, and education. [Read more]
Dr. Cristina Garcia-Vivar (Spain) recently announced that after serving a year and a half in the Spanish General Council of Nursing leading the International Affairs Department, she has left the Council and returned to her position at the University of Navarra as Professor and Vice-Dean of Research. Dr. Laura Gultekin (USA) is an assistant professor at the University of Michigan School of Nursing in Ann Arbor, Michigan where she holds the Suzanne Bellinger Feetham Professor of Nursing. Her research focuses on the experiences and needs of families who are homeless, with an emphasis on the adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and trauma that contribute to housing instability. In Memoriam: Dr. Marilyn McCubbin (USA), a distinguished family nursing author and scientist (University of Wisconsin, Madison and University of Hawaii) died on
March 1, 2018. Her scholarship focused on families coping with children suffering from chronic illnesses. Dr. McCubbin was a colleague and mentor to many in our IFNA community.
