New 3D Scanner at Rutgers University Molecular Imaging Center
The
Rutgers University Molecular Imaging Center (RUMIC) is excited to announce the arrival of a new SkyScan 1272 ultra high-resolution desktop 3D scanner. This microCT scanner can non-destructively image biological specimens (bones, teeth, tissue, plants), geological samples, various types of materials and microelectronics. Acquired with National Science Foundation funding through a collaborative grant, the
SkyScan 1272 makes the imaging of new and unknown samples easy and provides maximum flexibility. Located on the Livingston campus, RUMIC maintains and manages the use of a variety of imaging modalities for basic research including MRI, PET/CT, Optical/X-ray, Ultrasound, micro/nanoCT. The facility is available for use by researchers at Rutgers and the greater academic community as well as local biotech and pharmaceutical/consumer products industries. Contact

Conversion of ArtSci IRB Paper Studies into Electronic Submission System Required Beginning January 2020
Arts and Sciences IRB Paper-based Full
Board or Expedited studies due for continuing review on or after January 22, 2020 will be required to transition to the online submission eIRB system rather than renewing in their current paper format. Please be advised the IRB requires that studies are submitted in eIRB approximately 90 days prior to the expiration date to allow for Committee review.
Any paper study previously approved as Full Board or Expedited, which remains open for Data Analysis activities only, will NOT need to be converted into eIRB.
A
ny paper study previously IRB-approved under Exemption or issued a Non-Human Subject determination will also NOT need to be converted into eIRB. All
paper studies which are converted into eIRB will require re-review according to the new Revised Common Rule regulations. All eIRB submissions must have the current versions of the protocol template and consent forms.

Call for Proposals for Allocation of Computing Resources on NJ's Largest Academic Supercomputer
The Rutgers Discovery Informatics Institute (RDI2) invites applications for the allocation of computing resources on Caliburn,
New Jersey's largest academic supercomputing facility. Caliburn provides high-performance computing capabilities to academic researchers across the state to accelerate research programs that use or develop highly scalable computing applications. In addition to applications for awarded allocations, startup allocations are also welcome

Limited Submission Opportunities

Brain Research Foundation has invited eligible US academic institutions to nominate one senior faculty member to submit a Letter of Intent for the Scientific Innovations Award (SIA). Brain Research Foundation's Scientific Innovations Award Program provides funding for innovative science in both basic and clinical neuroscience. This funding mechanism is designed to support creative, exploratory, cutting edge research in well-established research laboratories. Busch Biomedical Grant
Applications are now open for the 2019 Busch Biomedical Grant program, an ORED-sponsored grant designed to enhance biomedical research at Rutgers and to strengthen the competitive position of faculty members who seek external research funds. The program supports three funding types: Bridging Grants, extramural competitive renewal grant applications from established investigators that were reviewed and received a score, but were not funded; Seed Grants for early stage faculty; and Collaborative "High Impact" Grants from two or more faculty members. Deadline: May 20, 2019.
