We are delighted to announce Rev. Jim Berlau will be commissioned as a provisional Elder in the United Methodist Church during this year's Florida Annual Conference. The ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 9
th in the Branscomb Auditorium of Florida Southern College (111 Lake Hollingsworth Drive, Lakeland Florida 33801).
Commissioning is powerful moment in the life of those who have been called to ministry within the United Methodist Church. During the service they are prayed over, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and authorized by the church for their life and work as a minister. After years of discernment with the assistance of one's local congregation, district, and Annual Conference Board of Ordained Ministry; after receiving a master's degree; and after a period of supervised service in ministry, candidates kneel before their bishop for this special ceremony.
The final step in the process toward full ordination will come in two years as he moves from provisional to full Elder. We hope you can make plans to support Pastor Jim by attending this service in Lakeland on June 9
