Awakening Our Wonder:
"Walking in the Light"

Scripture:
Matthew 28:16-20

For weeks we have considered the everyday activities of our lives as a way to be awakened spiritually. Finally, what we discover is that through our relationship with the Creator, Redeemer and Sustainer, we are drawn into the heavenly light of Christ. As we choose to walk in that light, we become beacons of hope into the lives of those with whom we are in relationships. Perhaps that's the most wonder-filled opportunity of all, the sacredness of relationship? Where we discover more than just our Lord's desire to be in relationship with us, but how each and every one of our relationships become reflections of the light we've found in Christ.

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!
Memorial Day is about expressing gratitude for the men and women who have fallen to protect our freedoms. After the deaths of thousands of soldiers following the Civil War, our country's leaders instituted this as a day to remember with heartfelt gratitude the ultimate price that was paid.
Pastor Jim's Commissioning Ceremony - June 9
We are delighted to announce Rev. Jim Berlau will be commissioned as a provisional Elder in the United Methodist Church during this year's Florida Annual Conference. The ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 9 th in the Branscomb Auditorium of Florida Southern College (111 Lake Hollingsworth Drive, Lakeland Florida 33801).

Commissioning is powerful moment in the life of those who have been called to ministry within the United Methodist Church. During the service they are prayed over, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and authorized by the church for their life and work as a minister. After years of discernment with the assistance of one's local congregation, district, and Annual Conference Board of Ordained Ministry; after receiving a master's degree; and after a period of supervised service in ministry, candidates kneel before their bishop for this special ceremony.

The final step in the process toward full ordination will come in two years as he moves from provisional to full Elder. We hope you can make plans to support Pastor Jim by attending this service in Lakeland on June 9 th !

Once each month this summer we will gather in the sanctuary for a combination of prayer and reflection. Prayers will be lifted for our community, church, country and future endeavors. Our goal is to pray without ceasing this summer--with thankful hearts. Make plans to attend our first Summer Nights of Prayer event on Thursday, June 21st from 6:30 - 7:15 p.m.

Help Us Raise the New Church Roof!
Following Hurricane Irma, our Trustee Committee identified dozens of small leaks that damaged interior ceiling tiles. Multiple roof inspections and estimates have given us the same news. The roof must be replaced and the cost will be around $80,000.
Peace is blessed to be completely debt free, but we find ourselves facing a large expense that wasn't included within our normal church operating budget. Please pray about this roof project and what you can do to support it-any gift, large or small will help. Donations may be made online at www.peaceumcorlando.org or via cash or check (please write ROOF on the memo line or envelope). Help us raise the new roof!
Peace Happenings:

Chili Cook-off 2018 - Eight contestants helped to raise $360.00 towards Vacation Bible School!   Neal Blackketter was first place, and LeeAnn's vegi chili was second, but i n the long run we are all winners. Thank you to all who participated and supported our kids.
