USC Hillel & the Los Angeles Police Departments Response to the Tree of Life Synagogue Attack: USC Hillel joins the country in mourning the loss of eleven brothers and sisters in Pittsburgh. On Sunday, October 28th, in efforts to honor the memory of those who passed and to support our students, USC Hillel co-sponsored a vigil at Wilshire Federal Building and paid for Ubers for any students who wanted to attend. On Tuesday, October 30th, USC Hillel, Chabad, and the Office of Religious Life co-hosted USC Stands with Pittsburgh Vigil on campus, which drew over 300 Jewish and non-Jewish students. USC Hillel is grateful for the Los Angeles Police Department, who is dedicated to protecting our students and our organization. Following the attack, LAPD asked USC Hillel to co-host a security briefing for all LAPD department heads, influential community members, and leaders within the Jewish community. The briefing, which was attended by 200 of Los Angeles community members focused in the safety and protection of Jewish institutions. Wine & Nosh with USC Hillel in Phoenix! Alternative Spring Break Opportunity for Students
USC Hillel is thrilled to offer a once in a lifetime opportunity to spend Alternative Spring Break in Alaska! Students will have the opportunity to explore Anchorage and participate in a number of service projects, including delivering Mishloach Manot to senior citizens, volunteering in a Food Bank serving the less fortunate, and working with students in the local Jewish Educational Centers Spring Break Camp. Students will also have the opportunity to learn about the Native Alaskan population and spend Shabbat with the Jewish community in Anchorage, also known as the Frozen Chosen. Jewish Alumni Associations Israel Update:

Kicking off the Jewish Alumni Associations Speaker Series, Charlotte Korchak, USC class of 2009, and current Director of International Student Programs at StandWithUs Israel, led a both intimately personal and academic conversation on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict with alumni, faculty and USC students. Charlotte, co-founder of USC Hillels thriving club, SC Students for Israel, was moved that many of the students who attended the event had not participated in Hillel activities previously but left the lecture looking to engage in Israel advocacy through Hillels Trojans for Israel and/or SC Students for Israel. Students learned nuanced talking points, ways to engage politically as American Jews in support of Israel and walked away with a newfound understanding of the international pressures and complexities facing Israeli Jews in 2018.Thank you to our student leaders who made Hillels Trojan Family Weekend great!
