This past week was the last week of Spring after school activities. Next week, students previously involved in after school activities will be dismissed at the regular time each day. It will be up to parents and guardians to coordinate with their transportation providers to inform them about the pick up time change. Students will head downtown for an architectural boat tour and then have lunch at Navy Pier (note: students will need to bring money for lunch). They will leave Cove at 9 AM and return at 3 PM. The High School Graduation Ceremony will take place from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Cove. The Eighth Grade Graduation Ceremony will take place from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM at Cove. Save the date - more details to come.

COFFEE AND PRESENTATION AT COVE

TOTALLINK2 COMMUNITY "NUFLATOT" CARNIVAL

Dear Cove Students and Families,

TotalLink2 Community enthusiastically invites you to attend their  third annual summer carnival, Nuflatot (TotalFun) on Thursday,  June 14, 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM  at Glenbrook North High School. 

TotalLink2 Community is a local nonprofit that empowers  young adults with disabilities and their families to have a  great life in their home community through employment,
social connections and lifelong learning.  

The Nuflatot features carnival games, DJ entertainment by  Bach to Rock, tattoos by Laine Too, and food from local  vendors like Marcelo's and Lou Malnati's Pizza.  For more information, email  [email protected]  or  call 224-412-4718.


2018 ILLINOIS STATEWIDE TRANSITION CONFERENCE
Thursday, October 25 and Friday, October 26

    
All are welcome to the 14th Annual Illinois Statewide Transition Conference at The Westin Chicago Northwest in Itasca, Illinois.  "Stepping Stones of Transition" invites participants to imagine  the  possibilities for students with disabilities in  the  areas of independent living, education and training, employment, community integration, health care and self-advocacy. It features 66 breakout sessions with more than 80 speakers to discuss best practices in promoting effective, person-centered transition planning that addresses all aspects of adult life for youth with disabilities.
 
The conference is aimed at transition-aged youth, parents, caretakers, vocational professionals, healthcare professionals, educators, college students pursuing careers in special education and community advocates. Participants will come away with valuable tools, resources and contacts to put transition-aged youth with disabilities on the path to success and achieving their dreams.  For more information, click here

This year we are ramping up our efforts to collect  Box Tops for Education, with a goal to earn $1000! Check out the Cove School Virtual Backpack for information about participating products ( click here), the new mobile app ( click here), and for collection sheets (optional to use). You can submit your  Box  Tops any time that you want, but our first BIG deadline is  February 23, 2018.
