Please welcome The Rev. Dr. Regina Christianson who will
preside at our service this Sunday.
A brief Bio:
Reverend Christianson and her spouse, Stephen Whiteley, have recently
moved to Deer Isle from Chatham, Virginia where she served the parish of Emmanuel Episcopal Church and Chatham Hall Episcopal School. For many
years, Dr. Christianson was a member of the Community of the Holy Spirit, teaching music at St. Hilda's and St. Hugh's School in NYC. She met her
husband, Stephen, in the church choir of St. James, Madison Avenue. Both professional liturgical musicians, they also shared a love for Celtic and Early Music, and they founded the acoustic ensemble Gryphon & Co.
As a result of her work and reputation, she was invited to Vermont to become harpist-in-residence at the Trapp Family Lodge. In Vermont she was able to
go through the ordination process and begin to serve as interfaith hospital chaplain, specializing in mental health and crisis chaplaincy. After ordination,
she served as priest in several parishes in Vermont. Church history, Celtic Spirituality, and the process of growing spiritually continue to engage her
interest and study. Dr. Christianson is also a certified interfaith Spiritual Director.

Bishop's Stephen Lane's Visit:
What more glorious way to commemorate the 'birth of the church' than to have
your Bishop celebrating with you. It was also a special joy to have Fr. Edward Dufresne with us again. St. Brendan's was indeed blessed and enjoyed
a perfect day and visit.
Sunday morning service began with a choir processional, red flags waving, and
a singing of 'Alleluia'. This was followed by a welcome from The Reverend Dr. Edward Dufresne. Bishop Lane gave the sermon and celebrated the Eucharist.
Following the service, he led an informal discussion after coffee hour
to address questions and concerns of the St. Brendan's congregation.
The Bishop also had an opportunity to meet with the vestry and ministry chairs
and gave his comments and responses as to the programs and progress made by
St. Brendan's during the past year. He complimented the group on their leadership
and work offering continued diocesan support.
The congregation of St. Brendan's gives thanks to Bishop Lane for his service and
wishes him well in the new future he is entering.

Window Dressers Update
We are tentatively in gear for a WindowDresser Community Workshop at St. Brendan's in late August. A group of St. Brendanites and other Deer Isle- Stonington WD enthusiasts met yesterday (May 16) and we determined that we have the internal structure in place to host a "workshop" this year. (new terminology this year :-). Look for fliers out in the community soon. We have a solid group of people who already have experience measuring and some some who are looking forward to learning the process. Window Dressers has a grant to especially address need for inserts among senior citizens.

First Sunday after Pentecost: Trinity Sunday
The liturgy today focuses our prayer and celebration on God who acts in history and is revealed as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The first reading today is the account of Isaiah's vision of God enthroned with the heavenly host shouting, "Holy, Holy, Holy." This passage provides the great hymn of the Eucharistic liturgy, celebrating our life within the life of the Holy Trinity.
The second reading is from Paul's Epistle to the Romans. This passage explores the ways the Persons of the Trinity relate to us. It is the Holy Spirit working in us who enables us to pray and to be fellow children of God along with the Son.
The Gospel reading today is Jesus' encounter with Nicodemus, and the Evangelist's discussion of the meaning of Jesus' words. In explaining that salvation depends on being born again by water and the Spirit, Jesus reveals God's three-fold nature as an active one. God the Creator is the Giver of life and the Savior of humankind.
As the Church, the People of God come together to celebrate the Eucharist. Called together by God's Spirit, we encounter the Son in Word and Sacrament revealing the Father and leading us into the life and love of the Holy Trinity.

We pray for all who suffer the effects of domestic violence and the violence
of bullying in our schools.
We pray for all peacemakers, and all those who work for justice.
We pray for all those serving in the armed forces of our country, remembering, especially, Craig, Chris, Graham, and Caleb.
We pray for all who govern, and we pray for the concerns of our local community, remembering, especially, our children, our young people, and our isolated elderly.
We pray for Justin, Archbishop of Canterbury; Suheil, Bishop of Jerusalem; Michael, our Presiding Bishop; Steve, our Bishop; for the members of our vestry; and for all our members, whose ministries are varied and far-reaching.
In the Diocesan Cycle of Prayer, we pray for
those incarcerated, those who love them and those who minister to them. For students who are graduating.
In the Anglican
Cycle of Prayer, we pray for
The Anglican Church of Korea.
On the Island and Peninsula,
we pray for Blue Hill Pentecostal Assembly.
