Welcome to USC Hillel! We are thrilled to include you as part of our campus Jewish community. Hillel at USC is the center of Jewish life on campus, serving over 2,000 Jewish Trojans. Our “Home on Hoover” provides a home-away-from home with free Shabbat dinners, a place to study every weekday, travel opportunities to Israel, and tons of programs we hosted about 300 student driven programs last year alone. Our Student Board plans social events, cultural programs, and religious experiences catering to a diverse Jewish student body - and everything is totally free! Meet the USC Hillel Team! FreshFest 2018:
Following lunch, our new students and 30 Freshmen Engagement Fellows (upperclassmen that will serve as mentors for the new students throughout the school year) spent the night at Camp Alonim in Simi Valley. FreshFest participants learned about the diverse clubs and other social activities offered by USC and Hillel during FreshFests Involvement Fair and Social Life Panel. Most importantly, our new Jewish Trojans had opportunities to form relationships with other new students through favorite summer camp activities like swimming, hiking, challah braiding, and sitting around the bonfire. FreshFest also gave New Jewish Trojan Parents opportunities to connect with one another and to answer questions they may have about their students transition to USC. The Parent Panel featured representatives from campus departments including the Department of Public Safety, Engemann Student Health Center, and the Office of Religious Life who will explained their departments role on campus and fielded questions. On September 18th, at 5:30 pm, USC Hillel will host a kosher pre-fast meal, candle lighting, and Kol Nidre services in our home on Hoover. The next day, USC Hillel offers Yom Kippur, Yizkor, Mincha, and Neilah services, while providing students with guided meditations and a fast-friendly community. At sun down, students will join USC Hillel staff for a large break-fast meal in our courtyard. Over 350 students will join USC Hillel for free High Holidays services and meals. USC Hillel is dependent on your investment as Hillel does not receive financial support from the university. Challah for Hunger
USC Hillel is proud to offer the program Challah for Hunger which brings Trojans together to bake challah while engaging in community, tradition, activism, and philanthropy. All students are invited to join us on Wednesdays between 5:00 and 7:00 PM for hands on baking. The challahs will be sold on campus and on our website, all proceeds support humanitarian organizations such as Jewish World Watch and Campus Hunger Project. On Monday, August 13th, USC Hillel welcomed over 130 new Jewish Trojan students and their families to campus with FreshFest, our annual overnight retreat for incoming students. The program began with an Israeli lunch and an open house that highlighted USC Hillels exciting new community partners, Kendra Scott, Health-Aid Kombucha, and Coca-Cola.
USC Hillel’s Jewish Learning Fellowship (JLF) is a 10 week experiential conversational seminar for Jewish Trojans looking to deepen their understanding of Judaism on their own terms. The weekly seminar, offered Wednesday evenings at 7:00 PM or Thursdays at noon by USC Hillel’s Executive Director, Bailey London, and Assistant Director and Senior Jewish Educator, Andrew Max, will provide students with a safe space to explore the traditions of Judaism and ask big questions about their connections to G-d, spirituality, and the Jewish community. USC Hillel originally introduced the Jewish Learning Fellowship last semester to a cohort of twelve students. Upon the conclusion of the Fellowship all of these students reported that they found a new appreciation for Jewish learning and felt closer and more invested in the Jewish Trojan Family. 
USC Hillel kicked off the 2018-2019 school year by traveling with six of our Campus Entrepreneur Initiative Interns (CEIs) to Hofstra University in Long Island, NY for Hillel Internationals annual Engagement Institute. USC Hillels CEI program is designed to dramatically enhance Jewish life on campus, empowering Jewish interns with broad social networks to build relationships with uninvolved Jewish students over the school year. Our student leaders received in depth engagement and design thinking training preparing them to connect with a diverse range of uninvolved Trojans. 
USC Hillel will be traveling to Alaska for this years Alternative Spring Break! USC Hillels Alternative Spring Break (ASB) is ideal for Trojans interested in making the most of their spring break through outreach and volunteer work with disadvantaged communities. This year, Hillels ASB itinerary will focus on connecting with the Jewish community in Anchorage, Alaska or the Frozen Chosen. Students will deliver Mishloach Manot to senior citizens for Purim and volunteer with the Food Bank while experiencing Alaskas natural beauty. Please email Upcoming Community Events:

Sukkot at USC Hillel Sunday - Sunday Trojans are invited to celebrate Sukkot with USC Hillel! Students will adorn the Sukkah with decorations, eat together in the Sukkah, and shake the Lulav and Etrog.
