Victoria Lawn Cemetery open during construction
The Victoria Lawn Cemetery offices will remain open as usual during construction for the new administration building at the municipal burial grounds.
The new administration building is planned for the north-west corner of the property, an open and unused area at the cemetery, so no service disruptions are expected during construction.
There may be parts of roads within the cemetery that are temporarily closed from time-to-time. Visitation will always be available from dawn to dusk. Victoria Lawn Cemetery offices are open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Controlled burn to remove invasive plants at Malcolmson Eco-Park
The City of St. Catharines and the Friends of Malcolmson Eco-Park are planning a controlled burn at Malcolmson Eco-Park to safely and naturally reduce invasive species, including common buckthorn, sumac and poplar, which shade out the native plants in the native prairie grassland area of the park.
A controlled burn is a type of open air burning only allowed within the City of St. Catharines with a permit in accordance with the City's Open Air Burning By-law.
The controlled burn will take place on a weekday between April 6 and 13, when weather is ideal. The City will deliver notices to neighbours and post notices at park entrances and online at www.stcatharines.ca and on social media.

A report from Mayor Walter Sendzik
Happy Easter and Happy Passover.
It was a busy week at City Hall. On Monday the new Deputy CAO was announced, welcoming David Oakes back to City Hall from Niagara Region. We have a very strong executive team led by CAO Shelley Chemnitz and look forward to working with David in his new role.
Council had another productive meeting where we discussed some of the most important issues for the city. This included approving the hiring of new building inspectors to help with the city's building boom, a presentation on the City's safe drinking water standards, discussions about more new developments to name a few. The next City Council meeting is on Monday, April 9 with more development proposals and the long-anticipated Port Dalhousie Secondary Plan and Heritage District Plan on the agenda.
As always, you can read the staff reports at www.stcatharines.ca, watch the meetings on YourTV Niagara or on the Council livestream
I look forward to your feedback on these issues. You can always reach me at [email protected]
