Principal's Message
Families-
I wanted you to be the first to know that I am retiring this year. I have the opportunity to spend more time on the east coast with family and am looking forward to it. I have enjoyed these seven years building community with all of you, contributing to the "all children are our children" culture of inclusion that is Murwood. I have worked with the best, most dedicated teachers, the hardest working staff, the sharpest, most forward thinking district staff, and the most supportive community of friends and families in our little corner of Walnut Creek. Murwood is exemplary in our core belief that all are welcome and our daily focus on what is best for students. I will miss our students and know that they have bright futures ahead of them. It has truly been my pleasure to serve the families of Walnut Creek.

Information Session for 5th Grade Parents
Human Growth and Development Education Info Night
An information session will be held for parents of 5th grade students on May 7, 2019 at 6:30 P.M. in the District Office Conference Room to view materials used in the Human Growth and Development Education Program and to answer any questions parents may have. The district office is located at 960 Ygnacio Valley Road in Walnut Creek. This program will be presented to our 5th grade students in late May

Teacher Appreciation Week is Coming Up!
The week of May 6th - 10th is Teacher Appreciation Week at Murwood. During this week we show our appreciation for our excellent and dedicated teachers and staff. Each day we will be doing something special for our teachers. We need parent volunteers to make this a special week, so if you are interested and can help, please sign up! Dino-Mite Scholastic Book Fair and Read-a-thon

Read-a-thon Fundraiser
The PTA and Mrs. Durflinger are thrilled to announce that we are holding a read-a-thon fundraiser and book fair in accordance with each other. The Read-a-thon begins next Wednesday, May 8th and goes until May 22nd after Open House. The book fair runs from May 21-23.
READ-A-THON PRIZES:
- There will be prizes earned for top 3 students per grade level with "dino-dollars" to spend at the book fair.
- The top 3 students with minutes read in each grade level will win in "dino-dollars"
- $40 the top student per grade level
- $20 the 2nd top student per grade level
- $10 the 3 rd top student per grade level
- The top class in K-2 and 3-5 will earn a pizza party picnic with extra recess.
- The "Golden Book Trophy" will be awarded to each class per grade level that reads the most minutes.
Let's stomp, chomp, and READ, while earning money for our school!

Teacher Appreciation week and Mother's Day are around the corner and we've done the hard work for you. Consider gifting moms and teachers with the best gift ever - a night off.
