What You Need to Know Before Attending the AEA Convention in Las Vegas
|
Whether you registered in advance or plan to register on-site, the AEA Convention registration desk will be open for your convenience from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 25, at the MGM Grand Convention Center in Las Vegas.
AEA Convention attendees and exhibitors are encouraged to check-in Sunday to avoid the rush prior to the official opening and AEA New Product Introductions session scheduled for Monday, March 26. Go to the advance registration desk located in the Grand Ballroom Foyer if you preregistered. Be sure to bring your yellow registration confirmation receipt with you. If you need to register on-site, follow the signs to the on-site registration.

FAA Publishes Aerospace Forecast
|
According to the FAA Aerospace Forecast for fiscal years 2018-2038, the agency projects that the small model hobbyist unmanned aircraft systems fleet will more than double from an estimated 1.1 million vehicles in 2017 to 2.4 million units by 2022. The commercial, small non-model UAS fleet is set to grow from 110,604 in 2017 to 451,800 in 2022. The number of remote pilots is set to increase from 73,673 in 2017 to 301,000 in 2022. In addition to UAS, another rapidly growing aerospace field is the FAA’s licensing, oversight and regulation of commercial space transportation activities. The FAA projects that commercial space launch and re-entry operations may triple from 22 in 2017 to as high as 61 operations in 2020.

Next Risk-based Certification Forum for Manufacturers set for April 4
|
|
In order to assist the aviation industry in understanding new risk-based tools available for the design, certification and production of aviation products (not limited to avionics), the AEA plays host to this recurrent, quarterly forum to allow for an open discussion with FAA personnel on the application of this invaluable, cost-effective process. Utilizing technology, supporting a global presence, and being conscious of limited budgets, this forum is primarily a web-based meeting. The AEA will offer limited face-to-face opportunities at its international headquarters in Lee's Summit, Missouri, to meet with FAA personnel, primarily from the agency's Kansas City office. Web-based access information will be emailed to the registrants. There is no fee to attend this event or participate online; however, you must register.

AVMAX recently dry leased one CRJ-200LR msn 7774 to Aviation Resource Services Ltd., Nigeria. It also leased one Fokker F50 msn 20244 to Silverstone Air Services Ltd., Kenya. This is the second F50 delivered to Silverstone, the first being msn 20223.
CONSTANT AVIATION entered into an agreement naming the company as the launch dealer for the debut of Innov8’s CABINFLEX COMMAND and CAST cabin control and entertainment product solutions.
ASPEN AVIONICS and Sensurion Aerospace announced a co-development partnership that will bring certified avionics to the burgeoning UAS and unmanned air-taxi marketplace. Aspen Avionics’/Sensurion’s focus is on FAA certified autopilots, communications, navigation, and surveillance systems, for small, medium, and large UAS, including future cargo and passenger carrying aircraft.

STANDARDAERO company Vector Aerospace Africa (Pty.) Ltd. in Lanseria, Johannesburg, South Africa, has secured EASA aircraft maintenance organization AMO certification for its engine maintenance, repair and overhaul facility.
JEPPESEN announced the continued integration of data services for business aviation operators with the introduction of Jeppesen’s global digital terminal chart data to the Honeywell GoDirect Flight Bag Pro electronic flight bag platform.
ELLIOTT AVIATION announced the addition of Gulfstream G150, Gulfstream 100, 1125 Westwind Astra and Astra SPX to its Wi-Fi STC ST03292CH. The FAA STC covers the activation and use of Wi-Fi products and allows for blanket approval of the activation of newer Wi-Fi bands like AC. Elliott Aviation is currently installing a Gogo Avance L3 system on a Westwind Astra.
CHICAGO JET GROUP received FAA approval of AML STC ST03262-CH for complete FANS 1/A+ system installations that incorporate the Latitude DL150 Satellite Data Unit onto 12 additional business jet models.
