Next Breakfast: June 28
Featured Speaker: Laura Little

"Come From Away"- the Tony Award winning play, is co-produced by Coeur d'Alene's own Laura Little. T he musical depicts how the folks of Gander, Newfoundland - a town about the size of Cheney - opened their homes and their hearts to 6,579 passengers on transatlantic flights stranded there for five days when U.S. airspace was closed after the terrorist attacks. "It doesn't talk about the tragedy of 9/11. It just talks about the good side of human nature that comes out in a time of tragedy," she said. "People were in a place where they didn't know anybody, and the best part of them came out instead of the worst part."

May's Networking Breakfast featured Nick Smoot, Community Manager of the Innovation Collective, who provided our group with insights and information about his vision of bringing Coeur d'Alene into the age of technology, strengthening community relationships and businesses.

Inland Northwest Milestones Free Lecture Series

"History of the Museum of North Idaho"
Thursday, May 24th at 7pm

For the last 50 years, the Museum of North Idaho has collected, preserved, and helped the public discover the rich history of the Coeur d'Alene region. From its beginnings with the Hoo-Hoo club in 1968, the Museum of North Idaho has largely relied on volunteers and dedicated individuals who love the history of the Coeur d'Alene region to tell its stories in interesting and enriching ways. Don Pischner, previous Museum board member and current Trustee of the Idaho State Historical Society will make the presentation highlighting museum programs, volunteers, staff and growth of the Museum.

The Museum has been honored with the Idaho State Historical Society's Esto Perpetua Award this spring. The award honors individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the preservation of Idaho history through professional accomplishments, public service, volunteerism, or philanthropy.

This is the highest award given in the state for those who work to safeguard Idaho's history. Come and celebrate 50 years of keeping history alive with the Museum of North Idaho!

Inland Northwest Milestones, presented by the Museum of North Idaho and Coeur d'Alene Public Library, is a series of lectures about the events, developments and people who shaped the history of the region. The lectures will resume in September. 208-664-3448 for more information.
