We are all moved in!
Our new offices will be located

.This suite will include: Joe's office, Amber's office, Katie's office, and the student staff spaces. Our office phones will remain the same.
To get to our new location, take the elevator to the third floor, and take a sharp right turn into the second wing of the School of Social Work Building, formerly the International Institute.

he new space will be amazing- with spaces for students to meet with advisers and staff, and for more opportunities for social interaction, social justice work, and community building. Come visit us.

CASC-MSW Preferred Admissions Program
Students pursuing a Community Action and Social Change (CASC) minor may apply to the Office of Student Services in the School of Social Work for the Preferred Admission Program leading to a Master of Social Work (MSW). This means you are able to apply to the school as both as junior and senior. Additionally, students will mark a "CASC Preferred Admissions" box on their application that will be taken into account in the decision making process. London Course on Community Action
The focus of this course is on multicultural issues and community action in contemporary London. It's a good experience for students to learn how issues of race, ethnicity, gender and other identities relate to social justice in a different society than the USA. This course will take place May-June of 2018. Learn more.

CASC Senior students are expected to attend our Senior Celebration Brinner (Breakfast For Dinner) where they will network with other graduating seniors, get information about graduation and graduation tickets, and celebrate a job well done! Brunch food will be served. There will also be an opportunity to participate in a CASC Senior Video where seniors will talk about their experiences in CASC and how they will bring it with them after graduation.

CASC TALK: Self-Care Transcend the Slogan
This workshop will help you identify what caring for yourself looks like and provide tools for doing so, including yoga, mindfulness, and wellness planning. It will be hosted by
UM Social Work Alum Raina LaGrand who is

Winter 2018 CASC Social Justice Internship Fund
Supported by the generosity of CASC alumni and friends, The CASC Social Justice Internship seeks to offset a portion of students' cost of living to encourage participation in social justice in a community setting.
Declared CASC Minor students are eligible to apply for grants of up to $500 during the

The James and Grace Lee Boggs Center Visit and Discussion
The James and Grace Lee Boggs Center mission is to nurture the transformational leadership capacities of individuals and organizations committed to productive, sustainable, and ecologically responsible and just communities. Hosted by Semester in Detroit, Community Action and Social Change Undergraduate Minor, and the School of Social Work, the Boggs Center visit will explore Detroit based grassroots organizing efforts and the history of community centered activism. The visit will begin with a bus tour of neighboring affiliate organizations and historical sites, and will follow with a panel discussion and lunch with local community organizers. RSVP.

Arab Heritage Month 2018
Arab Heritage Month on campus began its celebration February 17 and will conclude in mid- April. The events this year will focus
on broadening the conversation about inclusion and exclusion, with the hopes of engaging in dialogue about the nuances of language, culture, and geography. For a full list of event times and descriptions visit MESA's website.
2018 Winter Detroit Speaks Series

Keeping it Real: Authentic Political
The Ginsberg Center, the Program on Intergroup Relations, and the Office of Student Conflict Resolution created
a series for U-M students interested in productive conversations across the political spectrum and social identities. The event is for those intrigued by the possibility of building bridges across political perspectives or crossing political chasms through dialogue.

Growing Allies Winter Retreat 2018
The Growing Allies Retreat this semester will explore the intersection of race, ethnicity, and class. This retreat is an opportunity to engage in what it means to be a social justice ally through interactive activities and dialogue.

Decolonizing Public Health Student Lead Teach In
This is a student-initiated, organized, and facilitated event focused on

Out of the Darkness at U of M
OOTD is a suicide prevention organization on campus and they are looking for volunteers for their second annual OOTD Campus Walk on
April 8 .
Volunteering entails helping to set up, clean up, guiding the walkers, serving food and drinks, and much more. Volunteers can choose which task/shift they prefer, and will also be able to participate during the walk. Every volunteer will receive a free OOTD volunteer shirt. Please note that volunteers are required to attend one of three orientations at the beginning of April.Learn more.
Yom Hashoa We Will Never Forget
Every year, to honor Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day), SHARE (Students for Holocaust Awareness, Remembrance, and Education) hosts a 24-hour long vigil in the Diag, where they continuously read names of those who perished during the Holocaust. SHARE is looking for student volunteers to read out names during the 24- hour period.

Jobs and Internships
Michigan Student Power Alliance Fellowship
The MSPA Fellowship Program is a year long stipend fellowship ($250+/month running from June 2018- May 2019) open to college students in the state of Michigan. The purpose of the program is to support and train organizers on a number of campuses across the state, and build the strength of the Power Alliance.

Semester in Detroit
The Semester in Detroit program accepts undergraduate students from all schools and departments at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. Completion of the fall program plus one additional required course will meet the requirements for a minor in Urban Studies through the College of Literature, Science and the Arts at the UM-Ann Arbor campus. Spring students are required to take 2 additional courses to complete the Urban Studies minor. Deadline is March 26. Learn more and apply.
Applebaum Internship Program
Make a difference in Detroit this summer with the Applebaum Internship Program, which offers hands-on experience, funding, and professional development to students interning in non-profits and arts organizations in the city and the surrounding areas. The Ginsberg Center is offering a year-long fellowship for U-M juniors and seniors to expand their knowledge, skills, and leadership experiences to address community impact.
