Does Your Company Have a Lean Champion?
WORKSAFE - Announcing New Enhancements!
Every construction company should have someone who has a driving passion for Lean Construction practices.  Why?  Because these practices can have a positive effect on every entity involved in the project.  Project owners want to see tangible results for their investment, and contractors and designers want to do their job well and efficiently.

Here at MBI, we believe that Lean Construction processes will bring value to each of our members. That is why we are offering AGC of America's Lean Education Program in May, and why we have become a registered testing site for AGC of America's CM-Lean testing program!

The Lean Construction Education Program is made up of the following 7 units that can be taken in its entirety or as individual units. When an individual has successfully completed the 7 units of the AGC CM-Lean Education program, they are eligible to take the AGC of America CM-Lean written exam.

As you may know, Master Builders of Iowa (MBI) and Construction Safety Specialists Inc. (CSSI) created a unique partnership with Iowa OSHA Consultation. No other state safety agency has this type of relationship with an industry construction group. Focused on providing a coaching perspective to job site safety, the safety professionals of CSSI and Iowa OSHA want to give contractors a comprehensive view on how to make their construction sites safer.

Since its inception in November of 2012, over 500 construction projects throughout Iowa have utilized the WORKSAFE program to provide job site audits and the recognition of a heightened degree of safety on site.

To provide a better and more comprehensive service to clients, CSSI has announced new enhancements to the WORKSAFE Package. As is traditionally the case, Iowa OSHA will be providing one visit for all projects enrolled in the WORKSAFE program. However, as of March 1, 2018, all new applications will be given the opportunity to add a second planning meeting before interior subcontractors begin work for an additional $100.00. Another enhancement is a new and exclusive Safety App / Reporting System that has been developed and is only utilized by CSSI professionals. This will allow for more thorough reporting, quicker turn-around time for reports, as well as ultimately providing monitored statistics on your project. Making your projects WORKSAFE truly warrants recognition for the importance you are placing on safety.

CSSI is also proud to introduce a new upgrade to our recognition program. Contractors will now have the opportunity to upgrade a project to a Bronze, Silver or Gold level project. Upgrading to these levels will require the contractors to adhere to the respective standards of each tier. (These guidelines are outlined in the brochure.)

We would appreciate the opportunity to be your preferred job site safety provider. We are confident that the WORKSAFE program, as well as other services offered through CSSI, will help you and your construction team prevent costly worker injuries and complement your overall safety goals.

Should you have any questions or need additional information on WORKSAFE, please contact Tom Suckow at [email protected] / 515-250-0773. Thank you for your continued support of the WORKSAFE program.

In almost any industry and business across the United States, employers will tell you that hiring a ready and able workforce poses the biggest challenge to their growth in the future.

That is no different in Iowa.  It is a consistent theme heard by our state and local leaders as they search for a quick solution through policy changes like Future Ready Iowa.  At a time when our state is experiencing record employment (2.9%), we must be willing to accept the challenge head on and be proactive. >>>Read More

For the first time in recent memory, the MBI Board of Directors has thrown their full support behind a specific Board of Regents project. That project is the University of Northern Iowa's Industrial Technology Center (ITC) renovation and expansion project. >>>Read More
