AN OPEN LETTER TO CALIFORNIA'S NEXT GOVERNOR: Alameda County Superintendents have issued a letter asking California’s next Governor to match the state’s education funding to its economic power. Read the full letter at the following link. [ More here ]
DUBLIN CROSSING SCHOOL SITE NEWS: The City of Dublin and the Dublin Unified School District have reached an agreement on the Dublin Crossing school site. The City is to provide a lease with an option to purchase the 12-acre site for a maximum of $111. [ More here ]
PUBLIC REVIEW OF LCAP DRAFT: The Dublin Unified School District will be reviewing the latest draft of the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) on Tuesday, May 29th from 3:30-4:30 pm in the C conference room of the District Office ( 7471 Larkdale Ave ). Parents, staff, and community members are invited to this informal review. All school districts are required to produce an LCAP, demonstrating how Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) funds are being used to meet the needs of their students. The LCAP will be presented in draft form at the June 12th School Board Meeting, with a Public Hearing and approval of the 2018/19 Plan scheduled for June 24th. 
AMADOR ELEMENTARY NAMED TO EDUCATIONAL RESULTS PARTNERSHIP HONOR ROLE: Amador Elementary has been named to the 2017 - 2018 Educational Results Partnership Honor Roll for its high achievement and student success. [ More here ]
"13 REASONS WHY" SECOND SEASON: A new season of the controversial Netflix show "13 Reasons Why" premiered on May 18. The show is a reminder that parents should be aware of the types of media their children are consuming and to engage them in a dialogue about the content. DUBLIN UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT MAKES FOUR KEY HIRES: O n April 24 and May 8, the Board announced the selection of three new principals: Meghan Boriskin at Murray Elementary, Joy Inouye-Scarpinato at Dougherty Elementary, and Mario Hurtado at Valley High. The Board also announced Hilbert Contreras as Chief Facilities Operations Officer.
LADY GAELS ON A RUN: On Saturday, May 12, for the first time in Dublin High School's 50 year history, the DHS Girl's Track & Field team won the East Bay Athletic League Championship. Not content with the EBAL title, the Lady Gaels went out and won their first North Coast Section Tri-Valley Championship the following weekend. Well done Lady Gaels! You make Dublin proud! INTERACTIVE "BY-TRUSTEE-AREA" MAP AVAILABLE: In September 2017, the Board of Trustees voted unanimously to move to a “by-trustee-area” election process beginning with the November 2018 election cycle. The district is now divided into five "Trustee Areas." A new interactive map is now available that allows residents to input their address and confirm their "Trustee Area." [ More here ]
PUBLIC REVIEW PERIOD: DUSD has many items available for public review at the moment, including the Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) for the Dublin High School Engineering & Science Building and Interim Housing Phase 1B EIR, The School Facilities Needs Analysis (SFNA) report, and a middle school English text book .
DUSD FACT SHEET: The Dublin Unified School District has created a new fact sheet highlighting key statistics about the student population, ethnicity, attendance rates, financial data and more. The document can be downloaded on the District website [ More here ].
DHS '13 GRAD DRAFTED BY TAMPA BAY BUCS: 2013 Dublin High graduate, Alex Cappa, was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the third round of the NFL draft recently. Well done Alex! OneDublin.org captured Congressman Eric Swalwell ('99 DHS grad) congratulating Alex. [ More here ]
ABILITY AWARENESS WEEK: As part of its "Stories From Our Schools" series, the Alameda County Office of Education created a great video highlighting Dublin Elementary School's annual "Ability Awareness Week." If you haven't already seen it, check it out. [ More here ]
SUMMER EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES ABOUND: Parents seeking summer education programs/camps for their students have no lack of options in 2018. A few opportunities include DUSD's Summer School Program, DPIE's Summer Camps , and Las Positas' High School Student Summer Camps . Peachjar is also a great resource for parents looking for educational, artistic, or athletic outlets for their students.
