JAXTAB with the Jags Scores a Huge Win!
Over 200 people attended the JAXTAB with the Jags event April 11 in the Terrace Suite at TIAA Bank Field. Smart North Florida co-hosted the event with the Jacksonville Tech and Beer Meetup.

The Jacksonville Jaguars’ Mike Webb, VP Technology, Mike Stoeber, Director of Football Systems, and Justin VonHagen, Principal Software Architect explained the vast technology used to run the stadium, execute the game day experience, scout and evaluate players, and provide real-time player stats during games.
Zed Smith from The Cordish Companies explained the $2.5 billion mixed use project surrounding the Shipyards. The master development plan spans 4.25 million square feet of best-in-class dining, entertainment, retail, office, hotels and luxury residential living.

Thank you to our sponsors including the Jacksonville Jaguars, Pandera, Wilson Dutra, Lyft, Archer First Response Systems and ASEC
Smart North Florida Website Goes Live
JAXTAB with the Jags was an action-packed evening. We also launched smartnorthflorida.com, highlighting over 20 smart projects. We’ll provide progress updates as we continue to explore, plan and implement these strategies and others developed along the way.

See how the data exchange will benefit citizens, businesses and the government agencies who serve them. You can also sign up for opportunities to engage with Smart North Florida, learn how other cities across the U.S. and around the world are embracing new technologies, and familiarize yourself with smart tech terms.
Lessons Learned From San Diego
The Smart North Florida submission to the Smart Cities Council Readiness Challenge earned a spot as a top ten finalist among nearly 200 entries. Though we didn’t make the final five selected at Smart Cities Week in San Diego, the Smart Cities Council staff and fellow cities in attendance raved about our progress and validated our approach.

North Florida TPO Executive Director Jeff Sheffield was asked to present our program to multiple groups at the conference. We are ahead of the pack on many fronts including our integrated data exchange, regional approach and partnerships with the tech community focusing on local businesses and start-ups.
