Nurturing Faith Ideas
Nurturing Faith Ideas are weekly suggestions and activities from the Presbytery's Nurture Committee to link worship and home and to nurture faith development in the family. They are intended for all ages and family types. Add one to your bulletin each week or put them in your monthly newsletter. They could also be sent via email or added to a Facebook page. In John 3:16, Jesus tells us, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life." Reach out to congregation members and friends who have been absent from Sunday School or worship for a time, check in with them, share the good news of the church and let them know they are missed.
June 3
June is National Children's Awareness Month. Children are important to God and a blessing and gift to us. Hannah knew this and entrusted her son, Samuel, to God. Read 1 Samuel 3:1-10, the story of the priest Eli helping Samuel understand God's call to him. Adults, consider the children in your life. Talk with them about how God might be calling them to serve God. Children, talk with an adult you trust about where you think God is calling you to serve God.
June 10
Read 1 Samuel 8:4-20, which tells the story of the people of Israel telling Samuel, the priest/prophet of God, that they wanted a king so they would be like other nations. Samuel warned them against a king, but the people insisted. Following God's instructions, Samuel anointed Saul as King of Israel. When have you insisted on your own way, despite others urging you to do differently? How did things turn out for you? Pray and ask God to help you make choices that are good for you.

and Kanawha United Presbyterian churches in Charleston will kick off the summer with Music Alive! from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, May 30-31, at Kanawha United, 1009 Virginia St. E. The program includes free intergenerational music education workshops, a drum circle and more.

Free men's dress shirts
Two short-sleeve men's dress shirts, collar size 16, were donated to the Presbytery Meeting on May 17 free to a good home. One is red, and one is purple. If you or someone you know can use them, please contact the Presbytery office by June 4.

 This stewardship conference
includes four plenary sessions and your choice of four workshops from a series of more than 30. This year's theme is Transforming the Face of Generosity, and keynote speakers are Diana Butler Bass and Chick Lane.
The cost is $275 by Aug. 1 and $300 after; scholarships and grants are available.

Heaven Sent Ministries Hunger Challenge
, assembling nutrient-enriched food packages that are headed to South Sudan to help feed the remote areas of that nation.

air-polluting smog is increasing. Here are some suggestions from WV's Division
of Air Quality for decreasing our contribution to air pollution.

This recently released book was edited by former PWV pastor Dean K. Thompson, as well as D. Cameron Murchison. Per the editors' overview, "
