"All Things Bluegrass Country Soul:
Past, Present & Future"
Greetings!
Thank you to everyone who has placed a box-set order for the Golden Anniversary, Legacy Edition of Bluegrass Country Soul. We are very heartened by the response to our advance sale, crowdfunding campaign .

We're also happy to report that work on the restored film is progressing quickly! So quickly, in fact, that we are extending the advance sale deadline to Wednesday, May 15! As a loyal subscriber, you heard it first here! So if you, or someone you know, want to have your name, or the name of someone you wish to honor or memorialize, in the movie, you now have two more weeks to get your order in. But don't wait , because after May 15 the list is going to Henninger Media Services where it will be finalized and put in the movie.

In this newsletter, we share part of the interview we filmed with Bill Emerson last month, for the second commentary track that will be an "extra" on the restored DVD and Blu-ray. Additionally, Bluegrass Country Soul is featured in print in Japan, and we share a remembrance from Jeff Smith, who attended Carlton Haney's 1971 Labor Day festival with his family. Read on to learn more.

Thank you all for sharing this newsletter and helping us to increase the number of friends who receive it.

As ever, please send us any comments and questions you may have about Bluegrass Country Soul .

Best always,

Feature article on Bluegrass Country Soul in April's Moonshiner magazine
Moonshiner magazine, the premier bluegrass and acoustic music magazine in Japan, features Bluegrass Country Soul as the cover story for the magazine's April issue. We are thrilled to be featured in Moonshiner, which has promoted and popularized bluegrass music in Japan since 1983. The magazine is edited by Saburo "Sab" Watanabe. You may remember him, and his brother, Toshio "Josh" Watanabe, from their appearances in Bluegrass Country Soul, as members of The Bluegrass 45.
I WAS THERE - REMEMBERING
THE 1971 LABOR DAY FESTIVAL
Ruritan club members help with parking at Blue Grass Park
"I was 8 years old when the documentary was being filmed. I attended several of the festivals between 1970 and 1975 with my parents. Most of my father's relatives lived in Camp Springs and surrounding communities. Some of those relatives belonged to the local Ruritan club and participated in the festival, parking cars and manning the ticket booth. I can still remember the film crew and how exciting that was for a young boy my age. I also remember seeing the finished film at a local movie theatre. These were great memories for me and I am extremely grateful for this project." - Jeffrey Lee Smith
