Robotics Program Earns National Accreditation
Community Medical Center has achieved accreditation as a Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery by Surgical Review Corporation. A Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery accreditation distinguishes Community Medical Center from other facilities by providing the highest quality of care to its patients as determined by an independent, external process of evaluation. CMC's Robotic Surgery program is one of only three programs in New Jersey to have earned this distinction.

Community Medical Center's Robotic Surgery program was the first of its kind in the region and is staffed by highly skilled surgeons with over a decade of experience in robotic surgery procedures. Surgeons use robotic surgery for gynecology, gyn/oncology, urology, general (i.e. hernia, gallbladder) and colorectal surgical procedures.

Special thanks to Steven Lowry, MD, Program Director, Robotic Surgery Program, Sergey Grachev, MD, John Sutherland, MD, and Thomas Hackett, DO, who were all integral in a successful accreditation survey process.

Clinical Documentation Tip of the Month - How Clinical Documentation Can Improve Your Physician Profile
  • Accurate severity of illness and risk of mortality = correct anticipated length of stay days
  • Correct and accurate co-morbidities will affect overall quality scores, performance and ranking scores, and quality measures of the physicians profile
  • Clinical Documentation bridges the gap between the physician and the documentation guidelines of the Regulatory and Coding standards
  • Provides a foundation for CMS compliance
  • Ensures accurate reporting to CMS, which, will assist with the new MACRA ruling and CMS MIPS program by closing the loop between outpatient office documentation and inpatient hospital based documentation
  • Improvement of utilization and decreased risk of converting from inpatient status to OBS status
Good Documentation Habits
Carry your documentation throughout the chart and into discharge summary, even if the diagnosis is resolved, document diagnosis and that it was resolved during stay. Tell the patient's story through the hospital from start to finish in the discharge summary.
